Hi,
I tried to start this without revealing the campaign was ultimately a SpellJammer campaign. So here we go again, this is going to be an online campaign, we'll use skype + some kind of mapping tool. Game time is TBD but it will most likely be on Saturday Afternoons/Evenings PST, with a frequency to be determined.
You can find the player's guide here. This includes information about character generation, races, and classes allowed, and a bit of background information. Obviously PCs start as groundlings, and members of a Svart Stein tribe, chances for character to pick other classes will become available after the jump to Wildspcace, and other races will become available too, but that's after the campaign has been introduced (first 3 or 4 sessions)

Hi there, I never got a chance to play a Spelljammer game when it was around back in the day and am intrested. You are using PF rules right? What are the build guidelines, ect. ? I have Vent, D20pro player license, and Hero Lab. I live in Okinawa,Japan right now so we will need to hammer down a time that works for both of us, but I am flexible. Looking forward to hearing from ya, cheers.

Yeah, I am totally down for this. I've been trying to find a good online game to play in. While I haven't played a SpellJammer-type campaign, I certainly have nothing against it. And I have a ridiculously open schedule.
I've got a friend I'm going to point towards this post. Hopefully, he'll be interested in it as well. His schedule is a bit more confined, but it doesn't hurt to try.
I do have a couple questions concerning character options though. Is the APG more or less open for use? Going along with the less-than-civilized theme of course.
How about traits? How are they restricted?
*stupidly excited* :p

Thanks Bilbo, I might give d20pro a try, but I don't want to force anybody to buy software. (I have fantasy grounds, which is kind of clumsy).
As for character guidelines, did you read the player's guide? Check it out, and let me know if you have questions that are not answered there.

Traits from the APG are allowed, since traits need to be taken at 1st level, it's ok to take feats that don't make sense yet, such as natural born leader. Racial traits are somewhat restricted, since the choices are already limited to Human and Dwarf. What did you have in mind?
Only the Corebook and APG are allowed at this time, I will consider material from Kobold Quaterly too

Oh, there's like a billion billion traits all over the place now. One of the best that stands out in my mind for non-caster types is the heirloom weapon from adventurer's armory. That extra +1 to hit is nice. Not to mention getting the masterwork for non-masterwork pricing.
Which actually brings me to a few questions that cropped up while I was putting pieces together for a character. For starting money, do you want us to use the average starting wealth numbers from the starting character wealth table on page 140 of the core book?
And I'm assuming max hitpoints at first level.
Also, are magical items available to purchase? I'm thinking more along the lines of potions of cure light wounds, or maybe a scroll or two if I end up going oracle or sorcerer. Though, I'm leaning more towards the two-handed weapon fighter at the moment.

That Armory trait makes a lot of sense as Akia's Pride, so feel free to use it that way.
Max hit points @ 1st level, roll for later levels with a minimum of half.
Maximum starting gold
Magical items? potions and scrolls are ok provided you can afford them

I'm pressed for time at the moment, but this interests me. I'm thinking Barbarian, but that's very tentative; if we're lacking something like spellcasting or front-line battle types, I'll be glad to build to suit. I'll have time in the next 6 hours or so to put something together. I have PFRPG, APG and Bestiary handy. As for software, I have Firefox, and don't see myself getting anything more complex than that.

This is pretty interesting, I have a question though. When using Skype would I have to use a microphone or would the messaging work? I currently only own a microphone that i got from Rock Band and while it CAN work I generally prefer to use messaging since it sometimes gives me problems.
Well, from personal experience doing a few skype games, I've noticed that people who don't have a microphone have a harder time doing things in the game. By the time you've typed out "I want to open the door", someone else has already kicked it open and initiated combat.
Also, it becomes harder for the DM to track, since he's listening to folks, and trying to read the module and whatever you're typing out. It's not impossible by any means, but it does mean you need to be a fast typer to get some mileage out of your character.
Yeah, I've got a fighter and an oracle statted out, depending on what we need for the group.

I like to think I'm at least a decently fast typer. I'll likely use my mic but I just want to know if I have the option to type just in case I run into issues. On a side note I'm thinking if Dragon will have me that I'll go Rogue or perhaps Sorcerer with hopes of dipping into a Psionic class later on. (cuddles his copy of Psionics Unleashed)
I have a question though, are the Ormund and Akia the only tribes we are allowed to be from? They are the only ones mentioned by name and my knowledge of Spelljammer extends as far as 'its D&D/Pathfinder with/in space... right?'

Voice chat is kind of required, I hope you consider it :)

I habve run games over text chat before and it's certainly possible, but I want a faster paced game than that.
Text messaging is ok as a fallback resource, but voice chat will be the default communication method used.

That would be perfectly fine

Yes, those are the only 2 tribes open for play, you could have been born in another tribe, but were raised by the Ormund or Akia if you so choose. Marriage between members of different tribes is not uncommon, they all share the Blood of the Svart Stein :).
If you want to create a character from another tribe that's ok, we will have to work together to come up with the concept, however the central focus of this campaign is the Ormund tribe.

I am going to use an updated version of Shadows of the Spider Moon rules
I will update the player's guide with some basic Spelljammer info when I get a chance.
Also, did you guys see the gunslinger class from ultimate combat? we might get a chance to use that too :D
