Seeking Bow

Rules Questions

Hi,

I havn't found a good answer to this so I'll try.

What penalties does the Seeking spell negate?

Spell: Seeking
This ability can only be placed on a ranged weapon.

The weapon veers toward its target, negating any miss chances that would otherwise apply, such as from concealment. The wielder still has to aim the weapon at the right square. Arrows mistakenly shot into an empty space, for example, do not veer and hit invisible enemies, even if they are nearby.

We can all agree it negate concealment, but the rules says: SUCH as concealment, and negating ANY miss chances. does this mean.

1) that it negates only concealment penalties? (I don't think so, then it wouldn't say any and such as)

2) that it negates cover penalties and the -4 melee penalty?

3) that it even negates penalties for such miss chances like rapid shot (-2) and deadly aim (-1)

Of course it don't negate full cover (can't hit what you can't see)

Any thoughts? The last thread I found on this subject ended up in a discussion about grappling =(

2 and 3 are not miss chances. They are penalties to attack roll so they would not be ignored.

Concealment and total concealment miss chance are ignored, as long as character aims at the correct square, which means that seeker bow can be used to hit invisible target.

Miss chance from entropic shield would be ignored. After a few thoughts I say that miss chance from blink would be ignored also (bow would time the arrow flight to hit the target when he is materialized).

I interpret the line "such as concealment" like this: Yes it will ingnore the miss chance from concealing yourself in tall grass for instance, but also everything else like invisibility and darkness. As long as your target is in the square you think he is in.

So yeah, I agree with Drejk.

Romelus when you say: "Of course it don't negate full cover (can't hit what you can't see)" It seems to me you confuse cover and concealment. this ability totally lets you hit what you can't see, but cover is something different. Full cover means there is a wall between you and the target and seeking can't do anything about that.
