The goal: Build a bard archetype that functions as a minor shapeshifter (similar to the ranger variant) and works well in a wilderness environment.
I've been mulling this over for a couple weeks now, and I can't seem to come up with anything that I just love. I'm trying to keep it in line with other archetypes on a power scale, but it also needs to be different enough to warrant it's inclusion.
Ideas so far:
- Grant access to minor shapeshifts along the lines of the ranger archetype.
- Modify the spell list to include summon nature's ally, greater/ magic fang, and a few other feral style spells.
- Grant boosts to natural armor.
- Grant access to woodland stride, trackless step, and/or wild empathy.
While I probably wouldn't use all of that in a single archetype, I'm attempting to come up with ways to modify the bard and falling short. Any suggestions would be very welcome!

If you go to the main/home page you should see the icon on the top left. Click it and welcome to the RPG Superstar 2011 area! The first round is already going on, with submission time already elapsed so i'm afraid you won't be able to enter. The top 32 are announced the 18th of Jan, which then also begins round 2: Creating an Archetype for one of the core classes. Perhaps someone is already working on what you've mentioned here.
However if any one posts anything then submits it it will be disqualified. So you may not see any responses to such a question as of yet.
