What are you trying to say Krome? :P

Someone needs to slap Krome I think he is stuck in a time loop. He just keeps repeating himself.

Scarab Sages

There's never a sonic screwdriver around when you need one.

No :)

Not a time loop. That was a previous product. I think I know what's wrong with Krome.

Spoiler:

Eager Buyer Haunt CR 2
XP 600
LE minor haunt (1 messageboard thread)
Caster Level 2
Notice Perception DC 13 (to see Steve Russell's shadow)
hp 4; Weaknesses Slow; Trigger proximity; Reset 1 minute
Effect A voice whispers, "You want this product now. Beg for it. Add it to your ‘must have’ list." This haunt acts as the spell suggestion (DC 14 Will save negates). This haunt resets every minute and will continue to urge the target to make the request until the product is released.
Destruction The haunt is destroyed only when the product is released.

I thought Krome would have a higher Will save.

Grand Lodge

lol was at work and using the seriously crappy computer there. It froze up and I guess reposted several times!

But the sentiment is still there.

And Tarren Dei, I am a FIGHTER I can tough out anything but wave something shiny at me and I am hosed! :)

If you are that easy you should really check out Kaidan: its got ghosts, ghouls, demons and yakuza. What more could you ask for? (also kappa, hengeyokai, tengu, lost loves, soulless psychopathic killers, dead children, curses, reincarnation, wrestling, magic tattoos, cemeteries, and a lost salt-water crocodile) :)

Well sure, though I got the feeling Krome was already sold and now we were just seeing what else we could get him to sign up for. :)

So back to the subject at hand, though I've got to look at it already, I'm still looking forward to the actual release of #30 Haunts for Houses. For one thing, Tarren slipped in a bonus NPC statblock built using the divine channeler class.

Pssst. Wicht, I think you're still promoting other products. Steve wants us to talk about how great 30 Haunts for Houses is not how fans of haunts will find the Secrets of Divine Channeling a good source for a ghost chasing character.

Well, I did make sure to bold your book, which is a good read. And its not like I brought in something completely unrelated like minotaurs. If I had done that then I could well understand the complaint.

;-) heheh.

I'm quite excited about this release. The haunt mechanics in the GameMastery Guide open things up for adding an element of danger to the game that make as much sense (in some dungeons) as traps. I'm giving you 30 solid haunts that begin to test some of the possibilities but I think there is a lot more ground to explore.

One of the things you'll find useful about 30 haunts is the classification of some haunts as 'minor haunts'. These haunts are not dangerous on their own but can set atmosphere. XP is not awarded for surviving them just as they are. Combined with other more deadly haunts, however, they can be quite deadly and, in that case, XP is awarded for them.

One of the reasons I am SOOOOO excited about this product is I just finished my first product I am going to be selling. The second one is just beginning the process and is in fact a haunted house. The timing couldn't have been better! It's almost like you guys are spying on me and getting stuff ready just for me! :)

Not Krome:

He's onto us Steve. Call in the cleaners.

What CR?

As a product intended to give a range of haunts at a range of CRs, you'll find some things you want in here. There are a few haunts that work so well together, you'd have an encounter or two ready to go for the rights CR or could make a little substitution and work with the same ideas.

A good number of the haunts aim at CR 1 to 8 but there are some deadly ones at higher levels too. Also, one of the things that makes lower level haunts fun, is that clerics that notice the haunts and win initiative have to decide whether to channel energy at them. A few lower level haunts can soften up a higher level party by using resources that could have been saved for higher level encounters.

So, the cleric feels a chill and sees the window suddenly ice over. Is it going to explode, sending a freezing hailstorm into the room (ice storm) doing damage to everyone in the room or is it a 'minor haunt' that's going to just shatter the glass making the room uncomfortable for sleeping in but doing no real harm. A nasty DM could have a lot of fun with minor haunts, making the players ready to jump at every 'ghost sound' or sliding candle stick.

Rpg designers, Its like herding minotaurs.....wait that's not right.

I purchased both this one and the 30 Magic Blades last night, but for some reason my computer can not open the files after download. Any idea why this would be so?

Did you try redownloading them? It seems funny neither one would open. I assume other PDFs work fine for you?

edit: And thank you for the purchase. Let us know how you like them (after you figure out the problem).

Yeah we did. For some reason it wants to open them in the media center. :(

Yeah we did. For some reason it wants to open them in the media center. :(

Hrm. Did you try "Open With..." as an alternate method? Or go into Adobe Reader directly and then open from there?

Dark Archive

Pathfinder Roleplaying Game Superscriber

Does it do it with all your PDF's or just them? Just wondering if maybe media center is set to be your default method of view PDF files or accidently got turned on that way.

I would just delete them and redownload them again and see if that fixes it. I know mine work just fine.

Yeah, did that. No new results.

Thats weird, it sounds like their might be something up with them on Paizo then. I got mine threw drivethru, Rite publishing gave me a copy to review. Mine works fine but I got it from drivethru.

I would try contact Paizo customer support. Either email them or make a forum thread in the customer support forum. They should be able to check into it and see if maybe it is something on their end causing the problem.

Thats a bummer. I would say my files are just fine but like D.M. I don't get my Rite files through Paizo so it wouldn't mean much. I'll send Steve a message and make sure he checks in here. In the meantime it wouldn't hurt to try Paizo Customer Service as well.

Please contact paizo customer support if you can't get a resolution there, we will send you some from drivethru free of charge. But you should really give paizo a chance to fix it.

Ok, thanks. Sometimes I really don't think technology likes me very much. :P

When I do get this resolved I'll let you know what I think. :D

I hope you find it worth the hassle, Moorluck.

I think we are all avoiding talking about the elephant in the room though. You're computer is haunted and this is just the beginning. There's nothing Paizo customer service can do about it. Cosmo can't channel positive energy. Sara Marie can't ... oh, well, she might be able to help.

Moorluck,

Feel free to contact me at Steve at RitePublishing dot com

@T. H. Gulliver: I heard rumor that Brandon Hodges got a comp copy of this and was amused how great minds think alike.

I am really looking forward to seeing what Brandon does with haunt rules in the Haunting of Harrowstone.

In this thread Brandon hints at one of the problems -- the weak haunt XP farm. Using 'minor haunts' was my solution. It will be interesting to see what Brandon came up with.

~Runs away screaming for Sara Marie to exorcise his laptop.~

O.O

I mean that in the least dirty sense possible.

The Exchange

Okay, so because of some issues with our laptop I had to resort to having Solnes download them and print them at work. I have to say, both 30 Haunts for Houses and 30 Unique Magical Blades were more than worth the wait. Both of these are very well done, and are sure to be oft used resources for our games, and now having seen the excellent quality that Rite Publishing delivers I look forward to purchasing more from RP.

Count the LPM as one VERY satisfied customer.
