Looking forward to using the new revision :)

I have a feeling that, by the time Kor gets to that point, Paizo will put out something else that will require the poor guy to do more work!

I am not knocking you at all, Kor. Your work is great. It's just that Paizo puts out so much awesomeness so fast that ANYONE would have trouble keeping up!

I imagine doing this in Excel is not really helping.

Likely as the race book is coming out but as I tend to stick to the APG and the Magus from UM (and the various class archetypes) I'll call "Mission Accomplished" once he gets in the archetypes and the APG feats and spells (along with the Magus stuff).

Scarab Sages

Persoanlly I would just like the bloodlines in atm from APG & UM

yes Kor has problem keeping up though not his fault - one man working vs Paizo? think Paizo can put out more than he could ever hope to keep up with - POOR Kor but he does do a marvellous job doing what he has done & continues to do

with Race guide coming out later that will just add to work load

thanks again Kor this sheet is wonderful - the time to load the sheet is nothing compared to the time you have spent working on it - I dont care & sure others dont as well

Just reporting a bug

Shield Proficiency is not showing up under the selections for the Rogue Talent Combat Trick.

Thanks for noting this. It appears in one of the last revisions they updated the "Proficiency" feats to all be "Combat" feats. I have added this in now for the next update.

I think it's a bug:

When creating a monk it doesn't give unarmed proficiency (which is easy to fix) and correct damage on the final sheet, it shows up as #N/A.

On a side note, do you know when you'll put in archetypes? I'd be more than glad to help if I knew anything besides the ultra basic stuff in excel, you do an amazing job! (If only iPad had an excel reader!)

I get an intermittent bug where it wont let me choose any classes - that could be a system issue as much as anything.

Posting another bug. (Let me know if you would like these posted/sent some where else)

sheet version 1.74
Race Human
Favorite Class Fighter

When selecting the alternate class option for humans "+1 to CMD when resisting 2 maneuvers" it is only letting me select one combat manuver in the "Selection 2" column. It is not giving me an option to select a seoond manuver in the "Selection 3" column.

Bug post

sheet version 1.74
Race Human
Favorite class fighter
Class level 18

This is a sword and board build. Issue is that sheet is giving extra off hand attacks when build does not qualify for them. If just Two-Weapon Fighting has been selected it is giving a secondary attack. If TWF and Imporved TWF are selected it is giving a tertiary attack.

Error specifically happens when selecting class at 16th level.

Have done two seperate builds with same issue. I can provide a copy of sheet if needed.

Thanks for the excellent resource

any updates Kor

Sorry, not at this time. On the plus side I am getting better at Battlefield 3 :)

I had to do a major overhaul on the spell selection area. I was planning to do some more work on it this weekend. It is what is responsible for me holding up development of the classes.

Grand Lodge

Looking forward to it.

Xbox? Haha

On topic though, will spells automatically alphabetize now? And will there be a way to remove the domain spell header on my wizard? Also will spells already chosen be not available for choosing again?

Nope. PC only! I actually bought an XBox last year to transition out of using a PC. All I leant is how much I dislike playing first-person shooters with those little control pads.

pinkycatcher wrote:

Yes and no. They should have before, and I am using the same sort criteria. Basically, in Excel there is no formula that one can use for sorting a range of data alphabetically. The method I use is to assign values to the first 3 letters of each spell, and sort them that way. I can do an actual alphabetical sort with an array though, but it will slow down the sheet so much it will likely be unusable.

Hrmm... there shouldn't be a domain spell header on your wizard. I use an older version of the sheet for a Wizard and I don't have a domain heading. On the current display of the new sheet, everything is working fine in that regards.

Unfortunately I would have to create a huge amount of tables to do this. What I have done instead, is that the field background turns to red and a message appears to let you know that you already have selected the spell (i.e. Wizard Spellbook selections).

Thanks! Not the answers I was hoping for in some regards, but you can only work with what excel has, and you're doing an excellent job.

On another note, do you have plans for archetypes? They seem to be getting a lot of playing time with my group recently. I feel like they would take a ton of coding to implement though.

I do indeed plan to add in the archetypes. I have already built in the ability to do this. I just have to add the actual content... which shouldn't take too much, unless the new content adds in drastically different mechanics (such as some of the Summoner/eidolon archetypes).

Well if you can get that in you'll save me the money of buying hero-lab, I'll probably toss some change your way too if you've got a paypal or something. Thanks for your work!

I managed to get a urban barbarian working by digging into your codes & implementing them - looks like they worked well

I know this time of year is busy but any progress Kor?

Merry Xmas or whatever you celebrate to everyone
safe holidays to all

Sadly, I have made little progress. I am doing more house renos and am finding it hard to work on the sheet at present. The spells list creation that I am half finished on, is taking a LOT of time.

The more I work on the sheet, the more I wish I could just program all of it, rather than use Excel. I have an AWESOME idea for a Pathfinder Character Generator. It would be SOOOOO much better than HeroLabs.

For now I will continue to work on Excel when I get a chance. I am taking a "C" Programming course in January, and then will take several JAVA courses. In about 1 year's time I will have the skills to do what I want. (My programming skills are very dated at this time -- I stopped programming about the time "C" originally was introduced -- yes, that long ago).

Grand Lodge

Thanks and a Merry Christmas to you and your family.

Thanks for all the work. And have you considered something as "simple" as JavaScript?

I dont know if its something i have missed but, i selected level 4 rogue talent minor magic.

I opens the selection box to the right of that for a selection but lists it as blank. Nothing there.

Following on the spells tab is read magic. Not anything i picked. It also cannot be changed to anything.

If i add detect magic below it, it gives me both spells.

Bug or am i just dum and dont know how to use the sheet properly. hah.

thanks for your hard work KOR. help?

***EDIT***

Seriously have torn this workbook apart trying to figure out why it wont link the data properly and what not. Man i really need to learn some stuff about excel.

ARGH!

Whoops, actually 2 errors I made there.

Here is the quick fix for you:

- unhide the sheet: Classes_DATA2
- go to cell N452 and change the contents from "list_spellsDATA_wiz0" to "list_spellswizardDATA_wiz1"
- go to cell N453 and change the contents from "list_spellsDATA_wiz1" to "list_spellswizardDATA_wiz0"

That should fix it. Thanks for reporting this.

Scarab Sages

how are the renos going?

I discovered this character sheet recently and it's amazing! A few quirks here or there, but overall very impressive. The only thing I'm experiencing that is tremendously bothersome, and may have been address previously however I'm not able to find anything, is that the skills list on Page 1 have a limited # of skills showing. No more than 35 skills will appear, so if a character has lots of perform skills, Survival through Use Magic Device just vanish off the sheet. Any solutions?

Just wanted to throw out there that this sheet taught me just about all I know concerning Excel. The Magus playtest came out just before UM and I wanted to play one so I dug in and figured out how to do so. To the author: great work and thanks for the obvious time you've spent on this task. I had to upgrade my computer to be able to use it nicely but it was worth the effort. (That and the XP2200+ was a bit dated anyways... just sayin')

Hi Flingeon, I'm happy to hear it was helpful for you.

Sadly I had to discontinue updating it. After I added in the APG spells, all the spell reference tables I had updated began significantly slowing down the overall performance of the sheet to an almost crawl at times.

It was also through many years of making various character creator programs, which was how I taught myself most of my Excel knowledge. I also found the forums at "Mr. Excel" to be extremely helpful when I came to a roadblock on some functions.
