Fun times today at the con, thanks for the good dm'ing Kyle Baird. and thanks to Mark Garringer for organizing this, hopefully Mark will get to sit and play a round.
I got to play Midnight Mauler today and it was a great time! Thanks to Doug Miles for running this!
Also, we planned for 5 tables of Year of the Shadow Lodge and actually ran 7! Fantastic and thank you, thank you, thank you to my wonderful GM crew of Midwest All-Stars!

I feel like I just got hit by a bus. Did I attend?
I did, maybe it was me you're thinking of? :)
I would also like to say thanks to Mark and all the DMs (Bob and Doug especially. This was seriously THE BEST PFS event I've ever attended! The Year of the Shadow Lodge on Saturday night was awesome. I look forward to attending next year.

Coordinators rarely get recognized for their behind-the-scenes preperation, so I would like to take my hat off to Mark Garringer who did a fantastic job organizing Pathfinder Society at Who's Yer Con. Mark was on top of everything, making the convention a very smooth ride--which is what I needed after my 8 week convention binge. The players were great and created some very memorable moments. I only regret not taking more time to hang out and talk shop with my fellow GMs. I also will be coming back to Who's Yer Con next year.

+1 for Mark -- it was great and everything flowed just right
Lol .. Doug I almost have the opposite goal. I want more sleep next year!!!!
We understood tho being con hopping and sick sucks (well, I did at least lol)

Thanks for a great convention! Had a blast. The venue was awesome. We had, IMO, the prize location of the con. Almost felt like PFS was the featured event.
The vendors had a decent selection of Paizo products. After seeming the "gadgets" the GM's were using, quite a few players purchased items. The condition cards were a hot item.
It is always cool to meet new players and this event was no exception. The GM's were excellent. The delve used 3D terrain that looked very cool. Wish I could have played. Quite a few RPGA/4E players who are looking to 'change teams' and make PF their game of choice. Thanks to Todd for running Midnight madness for us considering your "condition" ;-). Sorry about one-shot'ing your BBEG. I love disruption!
Another huge thanks to the great players who made my experience memorable. Mark is very fortunate to have some of these players in his local area. A few players really challenged my GM skills, forcing me to step out of the mod and make some tough decisions to keep the story on target. After running the same mod for the third (or more) time, especially consecutively, the players can really help the GM keep it fresh with their unique actions.
Kyle was awesome...again...running the Shadow Lodge event. Sorry, to the characters who died :-(. Who knew that a Cone of Cold doing 50+ damage vs. level 5/6 characters would be so devastating?
Finally, my +1 for Mark's organizing. You would not have guessed this was was first 'official' organizing attempt. Everything appeared to run smooth, even if there were some 'hidden' problems. He treated the GM's very well (thanks for the 'zza) and expertly managed the players to ensure everyone got to play (even the extra players for the special). There were a lot of brand new players which can make things a little chaotic, but he handled it like a pro.
All-in-all an awesome convention and already have it listed for next year, just waiting for the announcement of dates.

This was truly topps on the list on gaming events that I have ever participated in. I have to agree with TwilightKnight, we definately had the best location in the Con for our events, too bad the bar wasn't stocked for the GMs. I personally think that PFS was the featured event. The amount of new players, some never roleplayed before, was truely inspirational. I believe I helped close to 10 players create characters over the course of the weekend.
Thanks for the kudos on the Delve set-up. It was a 4am cant sleep inspiration. i would have liked to run it more. The one time I did with 3 new to PFS player was very good, they really liked it and returned for more slots. The Third Riddle was a good choice for a Delve since it provides a variety of challenges for the player to experience.
Mark provided a great example of what to do as a coordinator, everything ran super smoothly including the unexpected hiccups that are difficult to prepare for. I am planning on acting as organized for this year's PentaCon in Fort Wayne in November. This was an excellent example foe me. The Pizza was an excellent boon!!!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks to Bob, Ankur and Doug for GMing the couple of games I got to play. Terrific job and great examples of how to GM.
I'll definitely be back next year.

I gladly and humbly accept the praise of my peers. Thank you all!
It was fantastic to know that so many players were having a great time with some of the greatest GMs in the Midwest, at a free con!
I want to thank you all again for investing your time, and spending your hearts into providing the highest quality tables and entertainment for 6 strangers every slot. You guys rock!
We will certainly do it again next year!
Up next? 3Con in Fort Wayne, April 1-2.

After the con report.
The room was great, the organization was superb.
The Dm's outstanding I would like to expressly thank the traveling DM's
Kyle Baird Great work on the Mists
Doug Miles Great work on the Mauler very memorable like all the times I have had you as a dm.
Local Dm Ben I hope you DM more events.
Sorry, if I mised some gm's. I have your gm numbers but cant read some handwriting.
I am one of those who died from a cone, in-fact I really would like to thank that GM. I would still replay that scenario with the same results.
I strongly urge people to hit or host local con's. I enojoyed this more than PFS at Gen Con. I guess there was a more intimate feel here.

I am also one those that died in TK's 57 point Cone of Cold:(
Great adventure, thanks TK (not for killing me, but for a great adventure)!
I would like to add that last year the room we were in was for 4E, so yes I definitely feel like Pathfinder was showcased. Mark and everyone did a great job.
I must also say it is hard to do a 'free con'. I am friends with one of the organizers of Who's Yer Con and he tells me every year seems to be the last. They do alot of work and run their finances in hole so that they can put on a 'free con' for all of us. I would be nice for those of us who are a little more fortunate, to 'donate' to the cause, I really would like for their to be a 2012 WYC.

I think free cons are great, but not necessarily practical. It can be very expensive to host and event of this magnitude. This convention is excellent and I would be happy to pay to attend. I do not think it would be an issue to charge $10-15 for a badge (maybe $5/day) to offset some of the cost. Other cons do and I do not think it impacts the attendance at all. Donations are great but too many attendees do not voluntarily give anything.

this was my first foray into convention play of any RPG, and I have to say I was impressed with the GMs' ability to play with a wide range of playstyles and experience levels, all the while keeping the adventure interesting. Props to Ankur and John, and the GM who stepped up to cover the 2 pm Azlant Ridge game, sorry I cant recall your name. Thanks as well to Mark for organizing and keeping things together, especially for YotSL. I just may show up at Arsenal some Saturday.

I forgot to hardcore pimp the local mailing list for local events outside of WYC for all the new players...*shame*

And your last minute substitution GM was James, who was awesome in my on deck circle :)

Sense I'm able to think sooooooo much better today and I no longer have my post-con headache...
The room -- out-fricking standing.. I loved the poolside view and the exclusive feeling of being in that kind of room -- if you have Mark on FB check out the view lol.
The Players -- were all enthusiastic, ready to play and ready to have fun. There were a lot of new players-- either new to PFS or in the case of some new to playing all together.
The GMs -- goes w/out saying I love my traveling family of GMs -- Kyle, Doug, and TK was awesome to see you again, Todd -- stay awake next time on the drive home sheesh. Ankur, Ben, Michael (and all the other IN DMs) Great to meet you :) I learned a lot with this con as I was presented with new and challenging opportunities and my fellow GMs were there to offer advice on how to handle things better the next time the situation presented itself -- thank you as your experience is invaluable to a newbie GM such as myself :)
Mark -- total mad props for all the hard work you put in on this. Things ran smoothly and even though I know you had a moment you didn't let on to it and kept things moving :)
*scribbles con on calendar for next year*

Glad everyone had a good time. That room is my favorite (mainly because it's easy to set up, heh) and yeah, the view is great. The bar makes for a nice mustering area; too bad it couldn't be stocked but then the games may have gotten...weird.
Thank you again for organizing the PFS, Mark and to the rest for GM'ng, playing and overall attending. It was nice meeting you. Thank you also for the kind words.

Trust me .. my games couldn't have gotten weirder .. I think a stocked bar would have made them more interesting :D ... tho a tipsy Gnome GM would be odd.

Todd Morgan wrote:I am a better GM when I've had a whisky on the rocks. This statement is 100% correct.
My gaming style changes drastically when buzzed. I'm much more willy-nilly with the rules and even more story driven. I tend to use the rules as my framework when story telling, but when buzzed, I let the story make the rules.

That sounds like a very interesting and fun way to adventure.

For the record, Todd wasn't buzzed... he was lit; and it was glorious! I had never felt so defeated in my entire gaming career. :-)
I can confirm that. I haven't laughed so hard watching your adventure in a long time. It would have been a blast to be in the group, despite the challenges. Providing flanking from within the purple worm, Maybe that would have worked if the elemental and monk had some sort of mental link. :)
