Age old question: Disintegrate gets a save?

Rules Questions

Heres the issue. It says Fortitude save partial (Objects), has rules for what if you make the save but says creatures or objects who make the save. So do living creatures get a fortitude save or do objects only?

RAW's pretty clear on this:

PRD, emphasis mine wrote:

A creature or object that makes a successful Fortitude save is partially affected, taking only 5d6 points of damage. If this damage reduces the creature or object to 0 or fewer hit points, it is entirely disintegrated.

Both creatures and objects get the save. The reason why (object) is noted in the summary is because objects don't always get (or need) saves. The "or" is used in the wording because the sentence is in singular form.

The "(object)" portion of the Saving Throw line just tells you the spell can be cast on objects and if it is magical ones receive the indicated save.

Thanks, it's what I thought but I wanted to be sure.

Small correction: attended objects (usually meaning objects in a creature's possession) also get saves, even if non-magical. So you can't auto-disintegrate a giant's masterwork greataxe.

This is also important because undead are immune to effects that allow a Fortitude save unless they also affect objects.

Disintegrate allows a Fortitude save. Objects, however, are immune to any effect calling for a Fort save. The (object) tag in the saving throw line says that it makes objects do it anyway.
