Witch disguise hex Question

Rules Questions

Evening all

My question is very simple. How does the witch's disguise hex work? Is the ability hours per day, per lvl, at will but most be at least an hour? Many thanks if anyone can clear this up for me, very interested in making a witch at the moment.

You don't have to remain disguised for a full hour at a time, but it's always speant in one-hour increments. This means that whenever you activate your hex, you loose a minimum of one hour off your daily duration, even if you dismiss the effect after 15 minutes.

For example, a 6th level witch can remain disguised for up to 6 hours per day. If they activate this hex to take on another form just to geth past a door or something and then dismiss it, they've only spent a couple minutes disguised. When they changed back, they must tick 1 full hour off of their remaining daily duration, and now they have 5 hours left. If they'd spent 59 minutes in disguise, they'd still have lost the same amount of time. If, on the other hand, they'd spent 65 minutes with this hex active, they'd have lost 2 hours.

It's just a balancing factor. If a witch were able to jump in and out of their disguise at will and only spend it in one or even ten minute increments, then by 4th level or so a witch with this hex would have access to Disguise Self pretty much at all times. This is still going to be the case after level 10 or so, but as things stand, it stops them from abusing this at low levels.

okay but the use of the hex is per day correct?

so the ability is usable per day correct?

Dark Archive

Most hexes have no limitation on number of uses per day. Most can be used a unlimited amount.

You're daily usage refreshes at the beginning of each, but you could concievably use the hex once per day per witch level, so long as you spend no longer than one hour disguised with any given use.

I'm sorry if this is frustrating, its just to me the ability sounds like its per lvl, which is stupid. From what I'm understanding now is that a 3rd lvl witch with this hex can per say change her appearance for up to 3 hours before the disguise would fall. after the disguise falls could the witch then spend a standard action to reapply the disguise for another 3 hours or would they not be able to use the ability again until the next day?
