Hey there, I'm interested in DM'ing a homebrew Pathfinder Campaign, but I have absolutely no idea of the rules of PBP.
I'm a rather seasoned DM with about 20 years of experience, but I neither know about the necessary commands nor other things I have to know about PBP. So if there are helpful players out there, I'm willing to DM.
I'm posting from GMT+1, so European players would be nice, while not a must.
About the Campaing:
Maximum of 5 PC
Starting LVL 1
Classes allowed: Everything form the Core Rulebook
Races allwoed: Everything form the Core Rulebook
Interested Players should send a synopsis of their character and his background to me.

Hi, most of the pbp threads have battlemaps and pictures associated, so an account to an online image host is advisable. Map making tools are helpful ranging from the free "autorealm" to the commercial "campaign cartographer". There is also liberal use of spoiler tags and dice bot whose command and syntax appear when you click on "BBCode tags you can use:".
I haven't DM-ed a game before, hopefully someone with more experience will chip in.

Although I am maxed out on my PBP's I thought I would post a couple of things to help you along.
1. Provide a general description of the campaign and the setting you plan to GM so players can try to develop characters with some connection to your campaign.
2. When you submit a post you will see the "BBCode tags you can use:" spoiler box at the bottom of the open post box, open it to see some commands, etc.
3. Let the characters know if you plan to use maps or description for your campaign. Maps in general work better but add more effort. This will give players an idea of your GMing style.
Good luck!

Hey Zyren.
I would like to apply as player, already playing a couple of PbP and DMing my own (i'm also a 20 years experienced DM and also at my first PbP DMing). I'm using Maptool, it tooks a couple of weeks to learn how to draw my own maps, and even thou i'm not using it perfectly my players are happy.
I'm European as well ( Italy-GMT+1)
Before working on a concept i'ld need to know some campaign details but generally i tend towards fighters, bards or wizards, but can play almost everything.

G'morning everyone!
Following the "first come first serve" method the group will consist of:
Gandal
Von Doom
Stephan
Drayen
Fatty
sorry Beckett (nevertheless I will inform you if anyone cancels his participation, k?).
Now to our upcoming campaign:
Charakter generation will be done via 6 X 4D6 (negating lowest dice), free substitution. I will roll your stats and send them to you as soon as you send me your background.
Choose 2 Traits, you will gain an additional trait of my choice depending on your background.
The campaign will start in Arodus 4707 in Kaer Maga, while we won't play an AP, there might be some points of contact to ROTR.
Your characters only need a reason why they came to Kaer Maga, besides that I'm interested in their motivations, goals and character traits.
Just send me an Email with your Character to: add_meister@gmx.de
Any more questions from your side?

Gandal |

Thank you Zyren.
Am waiting some news from the other players, since stephan said paladin, it seem we are without a main healer by now. I can really play every combo race/class, so will see what the group needs, pointless making another main tank.
Also i don't know much of Kaer Maga, which traits/background could fit better?

Von Doom |

Hey there, Zyren, thanks for accepting me. Uh, I do have a question, particularly -- are there any specific things you're looking for in the characters, such as any particular personal goals/desires that might fit well into your campaign that one might consider when deciding upon the character?
Also, should we generally make good characters? Or can we pick more freely, with neutral ones and (if a mixed group) evil that can play well with others also being an option?
Also, you didn't answer Fatty's question (unless I'm blind) -- is the Advanced Player's Guide allowed, as well, or as you indicated on the first post really just the single Core book?
I'm fine with either way, but it's good to know your options.

Zyren Zemerys |

Hey,
sorry, I just overlooked the APG question.
I would prefer only core rulebook classes.
I have no problem with neutral aligend characters, but i would not advice to choose an evil alignment.
No, you don't need a special goal or something, in fact a goal like ("finding particular item XY" or "rescuing princess Z" is more problematic than open motivations like "doing good", "money" etc.)

Von Doom |

Okay! Checking on some particularly desirably character traits for certain games is something I picked up with all the oWoD games I'm participating in.
Often we just sit down with the Storyteller and get a discussion going about what fits well with what the campaign is intended to be, etc. in those games.
I'm trying to decide on a concept and class to play right now. Probably going to be Sorcerer or Rogue, but I'm also taking a look at classes I haven't ever really tried since it might be a good opportunity to do so right now.

Zyren Zemerys |

Ok, by now we have a rough first sktech of the group:
Gandal: Cleric of Iomedae
Stephan: Paladin of Iomedae
Von Doom: Sorcerer or Rogue
Drayen: ?
Fatty: ?
Since I'm a big time supporter of the classic 4 I would go for (Cleric, Rogue, Wizard/Sorcerer, Fighter/Paladin/Ranger + something^^). But besides a cleric there is no campaign requirement for a certain class.

Sry I think i mixed your post somewhat up-I edited the sketch accordingly.
I will give a short introduction to Kaer Maga as soon as the Campaign starts; for now:
Kaer Maga is a bustling city on the edge of the Storval Plateau in Varisia.
The structure is ancient to say the least and existed even before the now long gone Thassilon.
Nowadays it's similar to Riddleport a city of where all kinds of soldiers of fortune try to get rich, powerful, or hope to escape persecution.
The city is divided into several districts which are controlled by certain factions.
Should spent some points in Knowledge (local) I will give some more pieces of information to him.
One more thing: None of the PCs should be a native of Kaer Maga.

Another option for your game is to create a Google or Yahoo group where you can host files, particularly maps and such with plenty of room and easy access for your players.
The visuals for Kaer Maga are incredible and you will want to help your players out with those. I am currently gearing up for a new game in Kaer Maga - all of the characters are "monsters" and most are familiar with the city. We are in the late stages of character development and I'm already running two intro adventures for players who have submitted finished characters. I'm waiting on the new Pathfinder module The Godsmouth Heresy to ship any day now - when that comes in, were gonna get in full swing. Good luck!
