Moving through a friendly square that is threatened

Rules Questions

Liberty's Edge

I have an AoO question. Here is the situation.

X= wall
A= character A
B= Character B
G= enemy
T= Ending Square

...GAT
XXXBXXX
XXX..XXX

Character A is paralyzed by ghasts.
Character B wants to move up one square and right one square

I think this would provoke an AoO from G as she leaves A's square and moves to T

Am I right on this? Is she able to move through a friendly square that is currently threatened?

Shadow Lodge

Character B can move through A's square but will provoke. Essentially there is no way for B to enter the room without provoking (unless she uses acrobatics).

Liberty's Edge

Does she have to only tumble one square(A to T)? What happens if she fails? Does she stay where she started? Or is a fail just getting to T with an AoO?

Liberty's Edge

Provokes, and with a -4 for squeezing (since they are sharing a square at the time they take the hit). I suggest being a ninja (Acrobatics).

EDIT: Technically they provoke going from B to A, but B has cover there and the creature could hold until A to T and take that opportunity instead (you can't take more than one AoO per provoking action, doesn't mean you can't define which provoking part you respond to). This shifts it from effective -4 to effective +4 for the ghast.

Actually you don't draw an AoO if there is cover.

Liberty's Edge

Leaving square with A provokes. Helpless condition folks do not provide cover

Gah! I have been defeated! Good call.

*remembers he's undead* Oh...I guess I'm fine, then.

Except your allies don't provide cover when you are moving through their space even when they are conscious.

Uh, guys, he's referring to the movement from B to A, not the movement from A to T. See the quote he's referencing (from me). The wall provides cover in the former case so there's no AoO (contrary to what I had indicated).

Ah, I see, I guess I'm having reading comp issues all day today.

I had a player try and do exactly this and claimed he got cover from his ally which is what made me think of it.

Yup. B -> A, no AoO, A -> T AoO
