I noticed 'Create an Archetype' is going to be the focus for Round 2. While I'm sure that specifics will be announced in the near future, could someone answer two short, tiny, itsy-bitsy questions? It would certainly help my mental noodling.
1. Are we looking at archetypes for only Core classes?
2. Can archetypes be for the Cleric class? Or will subdomains be the rule for customizing Clerics?
Thanks.

The primary answer to both your questions is "wait and see."
That said, you can also join in the early guessing here, and perhaps more fully, here. Seems like this topic is weighing on everyone's mind. And it's premature, in my opinion. You can start mulling over ideas. But just be ready to roll with the punches based on what the next round's rules tell you.

Thanks again, good sir. Sometimes that impatient inner-child wins the battle of wills and absolutely cannot wait like it knows that it should. :)

It's okay. Sometimes we eager judges jump in and answer some of these questions, too. And I believe in one of those links above, Sean made some comments specifically about potential archetypes for the Cleric class (borrowing from the Cloistered Cleric variant in Unearthed Arcana, for instance). So, I suspect that's probably fair game. My advice is still to generate as many ideas as you want, but wait for the final rules and be ready to adapt when they come out.

I'm not too sure impatient is the word - enthusiastic and professional come to mind though. The judges may have something tricky planned here (like linking someone's round two archetype in with the round three Villain stat-block) or it may just be a straightforward crafting or something much weirder instead. Whatever the case, a thorough understanding of the nuts and bolts of archetype guidelines and creation is a huge weapon to have in your round two arsenal. Underlaying the whole system is a psuedo-currency of what every class ability is worth. Knowing exactly what to pay or how to price new archetype abilities forms such a great foundation for whatever is thrown at the top 32 in round two.
If you have such understanding under your belt, then you will be very well prepared for round two if you are fortunate enough to get the judge's nod mid-January.Best Regards
