I'm considering taking a stab at running the CoC Tatters of the King campaign after the holidays (likely starting in January) and I'm wondering if anyone has an interest in playing? It's been correctly described by an Amazon reviewer as "action averse"- which is what makes it a poor choice for my tabletop group but I think it could be quite well suited to a play by post game. I've run a few pbps in the past that have fallen through, but I still want to try this out if I can get 4-6 willing people.
I'd like to use the BRP system from Chaosium, the story centered on London and Scotland in the 1920s. I can give some more details if anyone has questions. I will note that I both have a day job and do freelance illustration in my own time, so a hiatus here or there is likely inevitable and I certainly understand that players may have similar concerns.
Anyone interested in a trip to scenic Carcosa?

I think CoC is a potentially great system/game to run a pbp with. D&D and some other games are a little too tactical IMO to be good for pbp. I tried running a Dunwich Horror pbp on these boards a couple of years ago. It went well for a few months but fizzled out. However, I'd be into giving this a shot as a player.

Sure, I'd be up for a touch of CoC.
In full disclosure though, the last rules set for CoC I used was 3rd ed!
But I get the 'vibe' and the setting - also a fond devourer of Lovecraft.
My other disclosure is that I'm a huge fan of character THEN mechanics, so if you felt like giving a small primer (where we are, what we are doing) I can usually use that as a catalyst to build from and come up with the 'who'.

I've never participated in a pbp game before, but I'd love to give it a shot. I'm a big CoC fan and I've got the rule book, not sure which edition though..

Awesome, thanks for the interest.
If you've never pbp'ed before, that's perfectly fine. With the die roller coded into the boards and everything, it makes things a lot more transparent. All you really need to do is set up an alias as both your character sheet and your "in-character" voice during the game and you're good to go.
This particular campaign is mostly Hastur focused, with a different tone from something like Masks of Nyarlathotep or Shadows of Yog-Sothoth. In order for it to work out well, there may be some suggestions made during character generation, but you can mostly do your own thing. So far we have 7 interested participants; I'll leave this open a bit longer before setting up a PC thread and selecting our cast.

Let me set up a discussion thread for everyone to talk up characters and such for the month before we start. Going with the first six, it looks like our players will be Wander Weir, PH Dungeon, Shifty, Ravenath, Jelloarm and Jam412. SeeJackRun, stay tuned since someone may opt out before January or during the game so you may see action as an alternate.
Thanks all, I'll post the new thread in a moment.
