Apparently Trolls and Flamewars are healthier for the Development of the Online Community than Smurfs.
We did not need a scientific study to tell us that troll posts bait people into replying (which is what it basically says).
I personally would not consider "baiting for replies" the same as being "social" though I suppose it is by some raw definition of the term. And it's certainly not "healthily social."
Just like IRL, what is the more healthy relationship (emotionally speaking)---the one you have with the person who constantly picks fights with you and steals your lunch, or the one you have with the person who may not share the same volume of words with, but share both compliments and civil disagreements that result in a productive course of action?

Actually I am hoping that the trolls wander off in search of food in other forums. Making Ross lazy.
