Heroism Spell

Rules Questions

Text: This spell imbues a single creature with great bravery and morale in battle. The target gains a +2 morale bonus on attack rolls, saves, and skill checks.

Do you get the +2 morale bonus if you are not in combat? Could I use Heroism while making a Swim check to cross a river? Or on a Knowledge check? Spellcraft check?

It seems that I would, but I wanna be sure.

I see no reason why you wouldn't get it. The first sentence is little more than flavor. After all, what is a swim check except a battle against the ocean to keep it from drowning you?

Indeed.

My Inquisitor makes good use of this to help on Perception, Knowledge, Spellcraft, and so forth.

At later levels, with a rod of extend, this can easily be an all-day buff.

Wow. Someone really doesn't like the water, do they.

Kind of like describing skiing as a battle against a mountain to keep from crushing you with its trees.
