Is a ghost's CMB value equal to the value of when the creature was alive?
If not how do you compute?
A normal fighter:
BAB 3, STR 5, DEX 4 (and CHA 1)= 22
For normal CMD, you add STR, DEX and BAB together and add 10. So 10+(BAB)3+5(STR)+4(DEX)=22.
A ghost fighter:
BAB 3, STR -, DEX 4, CHA 3
= 20
For a ghost's CMD, they gain a STR score of -. This isn't a 0-- a score of - has no modifier according to the Ghost bestiary entry. They also gain 4 CHA and gain their CHA mod to AC as Deflection. Deflection adds to CMD, so their CMD is 10+3(BAB)+4(DEX)+3(CHA).
Another example:
A ghost sorceror
BAB 5, STR -, DEX 3, CHA 7
10+5(BAB)+3(DEX)+7(CHA) = 25
An advanced ghost vampire nymph
BAB 4, STR -, DEX 9, CHA 12
10+4(BAB)+9(DEX)+12(CHA) = 35

so compute as normal for CMB and CMD but now no Str mod because there is no Str to be had?
Yeah, with deflection (Cha mod for a ghost) to CMD. I find it odd that it doesn't have a 0 Str and a -5 mod, but apparently a - Str gives a 0 mod as if it had 10 Str according to my version of the Bestiary.

Deflection adds to CMD
CMD = 10 + Base attack bonus + Strength modifier + Dexterity modifier + special size modifier
The special size modifier for a creature's Combat Maneuver Defense is as follows: Fine –8, Diminutive –4, Tiny –2, Small –1, Medium +0, Large +1, Huge +2, Gargantuan +4, Colossal +8. Some feats and abilities grant a bonus to your CMD when resisting specific maneuvers. A creature can also add any circumstance, deflection, dodge, insight, luck, morale, profane, and sacred bonuses to AC to its CMD . Any penalties to a creature's AC also apply to its CMD. A flat-footed creature does not add its Dexterity bonus to its CMD.
Huh.. hadn't seen that rule.
