Children of the Void -- One shot needs 1-3 players

Gamer Connection

A meteorite lands on an island south of Riddleport and the race for the valuable sky-metal is on.

We're looking for one, two, or three players for Children of the Void , the second chapter of the Second Darkness AP. I'll be running the game as a oneshot.

The adventure is basically a treasure hunt. The current party consists of druid, wizard, and barbarian. Meet them here.

Please post submissions in this thread. Rough concept, motivation, and background are all that are required. Player's Guide or PRD content only, although special requests may be entertained if you leap through enough hoops.

My original SD character is in the profile (NE Human Cleric of Urgathoa, last seen as part-owner of the Golden Goblin, investigating the death of an employee), but looking over the others, I'm not sure he'd fit with them, alignment-wise. Nobody seems to be a Paladin, so there wouldn't *have* to be conflict, and he's not cackling beard-stroking evil so much as self-interested and prone to spending his last copper on luxuries for himself.

Just throwing him out there, to see if there's a nibble...

He'd have to be bumped up to 3rd level, and tweaked so that attributes and traits fit the requirements, but is otherwise do-able.

You are well known to me by reputation as a reliable poster and imaginative role player and also, I think, liable to put up with my foibles. Usually I prefer non-evil PCs, but I'm confident you can avoid making it an issue.

I'll make an exception in your case.

Welcome aboard, Set. Get thee to the OOC thread.

I would certainly be interested in this...

How would the following go for a character concept?

Tyrrol Radanavich, worshiper of Groetus.

Appearance:
Clearly favoring his human heritage, Tyrrol is a huge bear of a half-elf. This alone would normally make him quite intimidating, but it pales in comparison to the unsettling effect of his eyes, which glow with a lambent blue light. He is otherwise quite pale, with almost chalk-white skin, and fine flaxen hair.

He tends to be quite somber, rarely smiling, let alone laughing – he also has a habit of staring at people just longer than is comfortable, and compulsively checks the time on his silver pocket-watch every few minutes.

Background:
Tyrrol’s mother was a chorus girl in the Karcau Opera, who caught the eye of one of the playwrights, an Elf with a whimsical attitude to life, who had been with the Theatre for over a hundred years.

His early years were filled with laughter and music, and his first playground was backstage amongst the discarded scenery, where he dreamed of strange worlds, and tales where he was the hero, and always rescued the damsel in distress.

However, all of that changed one day, when his mother was killed in a freak accident; no-one was ever able to explain why the rope on the set failed, or why his mother was standing in just the right spot to be crushed…

Afterwards, his father became quite withdrawn and morose, taking only a distracted interest in his son, and dealt with his pain by producing a series of truly soul-scouring Tragedies for the stage. For his part, Tyrrol was never able to come to terms with his mother’s death. He sought, in vain, for some tangible reason why she should have been so cruelly taken away from him.

Ultimately, he realised that there was no reason; it was simple another random act of cruelty in an uncaring universe. As a result, Tyrrol became obsessed with Fate, and the forces of Entropy; unsurprisingly, when he first caught wind of it in some moldy scrolls describing the Boneyard, he was drawn to the doctrine of the Lord of the End Times like a moth to the flame. He subsequently became fixated on collecting relics imbued by Groetus, hoping that through the tools of the God of Oblivion, he can gain an understanding of the vicissitudes of fate, and gain some measure of peace.

Goals/Motivations:
Tyrrol has traveled across the surface of Golarion for years now, searching for the subtle traces of entropy that infest the world, trying to divine his Lord's purpose (a desire which is doomed to failure, as no-one except Groetus knows his plans).

When he heard of the meteorite, a rock from the Dark Tapestry itself, that had crashed near Riddleport, Tyrrol knew that he needed to be there - such things do not happen purely by chance...

Crunch-wise, I originally had him pegged as a Cleric, but since I see you have picked-up an Urgathoan, I would also be quite happy to cast him as an Oracle or Fighter.

Human fighter (archer) who has run up a large debt with one of the Riddleport moneylenders due to a run of bad luck in the casinos. He'd like to get out of this corrupt little town and make a new beginning but owes more than he can pay, and the moneylender's runners are starting to lean on him a little too heavily. When the meteorite hits, he sees the sky-metal as his chance to pay off his debts and get free and clear.

Also, I've run this in RL. We are actually on book 4 right now. But my GM didn't run it verbatim.

So if it's an issue then no worries. Thought I'd give it a shot.

Edit: Just an fyi, I can only post weeknights after 6/630ish US Central time and on. And on weekends. So if you're looking for those that can post during the course of the day, that would not be me.

I love the background and character concept. 'Twould be awesome to have you aboard. If you and Set and Aravan (druid) can work it out I have no problem with three divine casters in the party.

The problem with oracle is I don't have access to the APG, so unless they've added oracle to the PRD or you want to type out the class description on the chance I'll approve it, I would prefer you not play one. Fighter would be a good option mechanically.

Off to the OOC thread with you. You're in.

Oracle has been added to the PFSRD, if that helps :-)

Oh, they're fast at PFSRD. I haven't looked over there for a while.

That will do, although there's been enough dispute flying around the boards about the oracle that I'd be prone to accept it on a playtest basis. If you're outshining the party we'll nerf the class slightly.

Javell, perfect back-story. I looked over some of your other posts, good stuff. Time of post isn't important as long as I can count on you for once a day during the week. I usually slow down or skip weekends.

That leaves having played before -- do you think you can keep player knowledge out of your PCs head?

Yes. It won't be a problem. I like to run pc's as to what I think they would do, regardless of what I know. That's what makes it fun.

OK, Javell, you're in if you like, but I have to warn you that I houserule rapid shot with higher BAB prereq. Also, the party is a little low on skills/stealth. I don't require that you work that into your character; I'm just saying it would give you a non-combat chance to shine.

And with that we'll close recruitment.

Thanks! I could change my character to a ranger (same backstory) if it would be a better fit for the party. Will get working on the character sheet this evening.
