Sabeen incants another spell with the same harsh voice.
A vaguely man-shaped figure made of light comes into existence beyond the entry point (on the outside side so as not to project light onto the group or the sneaking monk).
Sabeen will keep Mr Shiny ready to sweep into the interior of the monastery if instant light is needed.

DM Tanner |

Since I cannot do a map update from work, I'm going to gently nudge the party so that you guys have something to do while I toil in the office. These rooms are to your north and south, but still west of the room that you are trying to enter.
Northern Alcove
This debris-laden chamber once held a shrine and wooden altar, but all of that appears to have been smashed decades ago by vandals. The ceiling here has remained intact over the years, helping to preserve a huge bas-relief statue of a muscular humanoid man with a pointy beard gesturing toward a huge mountain in teh background, his face a picture of mortal concern.
Southern Alcove
A similar statue adorns the eastern wall of this chamber, in this case the bearded figure appearing on a hilltop to a group of robed pilgrims. This being holds up his hands, palms out, in a sign of peace. Though many of the faces and limbs on the bas-relief have been worn down or cut away, the expression of those range from beatific to horrified.
A crude stone stele that seems to have been erected more recently than the abandonment of the monastery stands here as well. Its graven inscription reads: "A ghost of unholy mien was purged from this place by Theodephus Estrovan, servant of Aroden, 4691 A.R."

Nuveril |

Sabeen told us:
This small, contemplative chapel is dedicated to Vardishal, a once-immortal warrior slain hundreds of years ago in a great battle near this spot. Pilgrims of Sarenrae who settled in the region about 200 years ago were drawn here by a goodly spirit, the ghost of a noble warrior who manifested here occasionally to make pronouncements and speak omens. Most of these involved the evil cult of Rovagug and the threat posed by Pale Mountain’s denizens. Some aspect of the traumatic death that turned Vardishal into a ghost in the first place kept him from clearly communicating his warnings, but the flock of Sarenrae took the inchoate pronouncements of the benevolent spirit as a reminder to dedicate themselves to vigilance of their land, and especially to close monitoring of the ominous white mountain on the horizon.
Nuveril didn't care and wasn't paying attention, however. :)

DM Tanner |

Please read carefully!
A short set of wide ceremonial steps leads down to a cavernous chapel in which the congregants would gather for sermons in happier times. The vibrant orange and red starburst of Sarenrae still stands behind a film of rusted rainwater and dirt along the north wall overlooking the collapsed altar. Between the stairs and the altar stand dozens of old marble benches, many overturned and even more broken into two or more pieces. A wide walkway bisects the pews, leading directly to the raised altar. Here and there a few clumps of the original red carpet along this thoroughfare hang on against rot and neglect.
Above the center of the chapel, dangling about ten feet from the floor, hangs a cluster of gnoll skulls in various stages of decay. Strung together like a ghoulish candelabra of twine and bone, the boulder-sized ornament hangs from the wooden rafters about twenty feet above the ground.
There is a ladder on the northern wall of the chapel to reach the choir booths and rafters. The rafters are approximately 20 feet above the floor of the chapel.
The ceiling rafters in the southeast portion of the chapel upper works have been papered over like a wasp’s nest in an interwoven mish-mash of soiled tapestries, tablecloths, altar runners, and other bits of salvaged cloth, creating a sort of hanging “tent” in the rafters above.
The rope that suspends the gnoll-skull chandelier winds up to the rafters above, then across to the southwest corner. Suddenly, the knotted rope suspending the gnoll-skull candelabra jerks and jumps as a runty little creature dressed in crude furs scrambles from far above to gain a foothold on the swaying skulls.
With a squeaky laugh, this gremlin casts a rude gesture in your direction and gives a warbling squeak. In response, several pugwampi heads peek out over the railings of the choir booths. They take aim at you with tiny bows and arrows.

I believe this will be 70' of movement unless you are counting up the ladder as a double move, then it will be 80' which he can still make.
From the SRD: "Many nonstandard modes of movement are covered under this category, including climbing (up to one-quarter of your speed)..."
With a movement of 40 feet, your climbing speed will be 10 feet. It would take you a double-move to climb the ladder if you were starting at the bottom.
You can, however, climb at up to half your speed by making a Climb check (DC 5). This will put you nearly at the top of the ladder where you wanted to go.
PLEASE NOTE EVERYONE: If your movement is 30 feet per round, it will take you 3 move actions to climb the ladder unless you make a Climb check (DC 5) to perform an accelerated climb. A successful accelerated climb will get you to the top in 2 move actions. (Grall can make it in a single move action with accelerated climbing due to his 40 feet of movement.)

Suspect everyone should make 2 climb checks given the aura from pugs 1 and 2 seems to extend to the top part EDIT: of the ladder.
My action is made on the assumption that the area of the lower level near the ladder blocks line of sight to pugs 1-3 and we have total cover there EDIT: from pugs 1-3.
Round 1
- No Action required: Sweep dancing lights round into the chapel up the gap in between the pews (100' movement).
- Move action: Move to the lower section near the ladder and take cover behind the biggest intact piece of marble Sabeen can find. If pugs 1 and 2 are 20' up I'm also assuming I'm just outside their bad luck aura.
- Standard action: Shoot crossbow at pug 6.

DM Tanner |

1. Due to the pugwampis unluck aura, you will indeed need to roll everything twice;
Unluck (Su) A pugwampi radiates an aura of unluck to a radius
of 20 feet. A creature in this area must roll 2d20 whenever a
situation calls for a d20 roll (such as an attack roll, a skill check,
or a saving throw) and must use the lowest of the two results
generated.
I was planning on make the second rolls myself to surprise the unwary, but it isn't a big deal.
2. Due to timezones, some of you post while I am fast asleep. I usually like to post more than once a day as DM, but I think we can still keep a good pace if I am posting round updates once per day. That said, look for an update this evening.

Linah Jamil'Kaid |

Standard action to cast Bless. Everyone within 50 ft (i'm hoping that's everyone) get's a +1 morale bonus to attack rolls and saving throws against fear.
Is the ladder the red dot on the map?

Nuveril |

Nuveril flinches violently when Sabeen's light-man sweeps past her. No amount of reasoning has been able to convince her the apparition is anything less than an embodiment of the evil spirit which keeps the simple-minded female as his pawn. When it first made an appearance during the journey to the ruined monastery, she tired herself out trying to slay it, as her blade sliced uselessly through the air; while she no longer tries to attack it, convinced that her scimitar is not sufficiently blessed to injure the spirit, she avoids all contact with it like it is plague-ridden, an avoidance that extends to its conjuror. Seeing Sabeen run toward the chapel altar and attack at range, Nuveril decides instead to climb the ladder with the rest of the party. She shrugs her madu off her arm to free it up for the climb.

A thin balcony overlooks the chapel floor some twenty feet below. Two rows of tall-backed wooden choir chairs dominate the southern reach of the balcony, which hugs the chapel’s concave walls. The balcony falls away—collapsed for a span of perhaps fifteen feet—just on the other side of the choir area. To the east, rickety time-worn wooden rafters stretch across the whole chapel. Two huge sections of these rafters have been engulfed in a sort of nest comprised of a patchwork of random bits of cloth.
