Version 4.9 of the Pathfinder files for Hero Lab is now available from the automatic updates mechanism within Hero Lab.
This update has some major re-arrangements of the adjustments - they've been split into two tabs, and this update adds adjustments for various situations and combat actions - like charging, mounted, or fighting defensively. It also adds a few adjustments for spells and for abilities conferred by those around you - like a Bard's Inspire Competence or a Paladin's Aura of Courage - more options will be added to those tables in future updates.
The NPCs from the GMG - all 81 of them - have been entered into HL and are ready for use. From the main HL window or the Tactical Console, select "Import Stock Hero...", and then choose the group of NPCs you want, and the specific NPCs you want - they'll be added to the existing portfolio, ready for your PCs to encounter them.
The faction mechanisms in HL have been modified so that multiple factions can be taken, and prestige awards are tracked faction-by-faction - this gets the program ready for when we have the Faction Guide ready to release.
Races that have pre-selected feats and skills can now check the "Customize?" option next to the race selection, which will suppress those, allowing the user to choose their own. For example, the Endurance feat and 2 skill points in Percception that the Bestiary's horse entry has can be suppressed if you've purchased a horse that's from another breed or has different training.
If you haven't tried Hero Lab yet, you can download the demo from the Hero Lab page of our website. The only things restricted in the demo are printing (although print preview is available) and saving, so you can give the program a thourough run-through before you decide to purchase it.
