Hey guys, this is my first post so be patient if I double post or some other forum newbie mistake.
So, here is my problem. My character just got murdered in the second part of the Serpent's Skull module (stupid Paralysis, Coup De Gras) and I need to bring in a new one. I was interested in the Alchemist Class and came up with an interesting back story for a lvl 1 half-orc monk, rest alchemist. (He was the child of 'unwilling relations' between his mother and an orc. Raised by a LG Church as a monk to show he is not a beast by nature, but able to channel his instincts into physical perfection. He, of course, is WAY smarter than he is wise and comes up with some performance inhancers instead. Hey, as far as he is concerned that is the best way to use the mind to improve the body. Screw that meditation crap :p)
The other Idea is just a Crazy Goblin alchemist. I love the flavor of throwing bombs and giggling.
A friend just pointed out I could use the same back story for the Goblin, but I am trapped with option paralysis. Especially after reading about Zen monk. I am about ready to flip a coin, so I am asking if I am missing anything obvious. I have until Sunday morning to chose, so let me know what you think.

Go for the Goblin. Play it like The Evil Midnight Bomber what Bombs at Midnight.
I had a crazed halfling alchemist I played like this for a few sessions. The only problem was that my throat hurt afterward, from trying to do the voice, and all the yelling. Still, it was a good time.
I'd suggest a pure alchemist build so you can get all the goodies the class has to offer as soon as possible. However, if a monk/alchemist tickles your fancy, see if the GM will allow the Kung Fu Genius feat. I believe it's in the 3.5 Dragon Compendium. It allows you to use Intelligence instead of Wisdom for all your Monk abilities. Definitely a better synergy with alchemist. It'll play up your "smarter than wise" background idea.
