Well, I read through several pages of post about how trip attacks work but what I want to know is when you succeed with a trip attack with a trip weapon, besides tripping your enemy do you inflict weapon damage to your enemy?
As far as I've played with a tripping character (my main PFS char uses a guisarme), the answer is no. You'll be working towards Greater Trip which causes them to provoke an AOO when you trip them, and that's where you'll be doing your damage. As well as when they provoke by standing up.

No. You only get to knock them down. If you have greater trip then you get an attack of opportunity for knocking them down.

Thanks.
Now, Can you use acrobatics to try and avoid an AoO while standing up from prone in a threatened square.
Not moving but standing up and attacking.
I've always allowed this in my own games, but I'm not sure if its actually stated in the rules. Acrobatics just mentions being able to use it to move past foes while prone.

Nope, but if your DM allows 3.5 stuff there were ways to stand up without provoking. My group also has a house rule that allows you to stand up as a full round action.
By the rules though if you stand up you just have to eat the AoO.
