Wizards Watch: Review of Revenge of the Marauders

4th Edition

Posted a review of the recent Dungeon Magazine feature, a Dark Sun adventure called Revenge of the Marauders. As the purported sequel to the less-than-well received official Dark Sun module, Marauders of the Dune Sea, I thought it was crucial to see if WotC would commit resources to provide some decent Athasian content this year.

I'm still a bit unhappy with this product. The problem is its a dungeon. While dungeons certainly have there place in Athas its reasonably possible for a DM to modify existing dungeons to suit Athas.
It's by far the easiest type of conversion to do since Dungeons are pretty self contained environments. A plot line involving betrayal by a merchant house to fleeing one of the city states is where it starts to get both difficult for a DM to write and also where one is really starting to focus on Athas as Athas. I'd have preferred a different type of adventure.
