Has anyone heard what any of the new animal companions are gonna be? Also, has paizo given any indication that there will be new huge animals? Elephant / dinosaurs is kind of restricting : /
Dire animals are still animals. Aren't dire bears "huge" creatures...?
At any rate, I would like to see this too. Who says that just because it isn't an animal we see on Animal Planet or the Discovery Channel that it can't be a native animal in a fantasy RPG. :D I for one would like to see a beer.
A bear-deer. :D You could call it a bear-stag or something equally lame sounding, if beer is too much.

There are no huge dire animals in the core rules. Dire bears, dire lions, dire tigers - all large.
But I usually allow druids to transform into young/giant versions of animals (i.e. with the young or giant simple templates added). It's not really a problem, because the spell dictates what ability bonuses you'll get.
Plus, the animal shamans' specialised wild shape abilities would be completely useless without this.

Indeed. Hm. I even checked to see if I carried that notion over from 3.5, but even then they were merely "large" creatures. Silly me.
Well, again, I would hope that a fantasy setting could have animals that aren't simply statted versions of real animals (extinct or otherwise). Seems like if it's not something here on good ol' Earth, it's written up as a magical beast. :/ I could be wrong! I'm a poor kid, so my knowledge is limited to mostly the core of the game, so APs and Modules and 3PP may have these things.
But I hope there are some in Bestiary 2.

Oh wow, this never even occurred to me ^^ Thanks for the idea KaeYoss! They ought to include a note on this somewhere near the wildshape rules, at least via the optimization links on the SRD. I know several fellow druid lovers have voiced the same complaint, and this solves or problem rather elegantly! Boo at dinosaurs yay at giant bears!

Wish list for Bestiary II
Fox(a familiar for Witches, but it needs to be statted)
Dog with the young template is what a fox is supposed to use. They won't (and probably shouldn't) reprint those stats when they are so easily changed out. If a fox is going to see enough use, a group will probably type up a stat block and print out a copy or two.
Beer(Bear + Deer)
+1... million... No freaking joke. Wait, I actually already commented about that in this thread. <<; Anyway. Ever play Magi-Nation Duel? Furoks? Oh yeah, brother. ("Sure you can pet him. Just don't blame me if he rolls over on you.")
EDIT: For a squirrel, I would probably use the young template on a weasel. Or just use a weasel if you want a particularly vicious squirrel.

Fox(a familiar for Witches, but it needs to be statted)
Kitsune
BeaveCoon(Beaver + Raccoon)
Beer(Bear + Deer)
Jackalope(Rabbit + Antelope)
Squirrel
Fomorian
WereBoar(Is the female called a WereSow?)
WereBear
WereTiger
Selkie
Ice Troll
Annis Hag
Dire Hippo(Huge)
Let's not forget the white rabbit in Monty Python's Holy Grail movie. That thing was awesome the way it bit the heads off knights with a single pounce. It took the legendary artifact 'The holy Hand Grenade of Antiochus' to take that critter out. Also, don't forget dire penguins for the Arctic Druid archetype. 8P

A squirrel's climb speed is more than it's ground speed.
While a squirrel might be able to attach, it cannot suck blood unless turned vampire.
A fox is a puppy like the internet is a poket calculator.
How many puppies do you know that can erase their own tracks with their tail? A recent study found that not only are foxes not endangered, they are as hard to count as ninjas. How high can an animal's stealth be? Normal foxes are living on the rooftops of London.
I didn't think of Beers first, but I added them to my wishlist because I agree.

Since Pathfinder has planted their feet on animal intelligence, I have been forced to compromise. Foxes have intelligence 2 only as humans understand intelligence. They have stealth 18, the ability to pass without trace as a non-magical feat, and with speak with animals or tongues they seem smarter than humans.
