So, this situation has come up in two different games and I need some clarification... The Summoner gets the ability to summon a monster whenever their eidolon is not in play. Since it takes the summoner a standard action to summon a monster instead of a full round action does the monster only get a standard action or do they get a full round like a normal summoned monster?

Please help, we couldn't find the answer anywhere!

Without any indication to the contrary, I'd say that the creature gets the normal number of actions (i.e. a full round's worth) on the turn that it's summoned. But restricting it to a standard action would be a very reasonable house rule, IMO.

Liberty's Edge

The monster gets his full round normally.

Liberty's Edge

I agree. As a standard action ability, the summoned monster should still be able to take a full round action (move and attack usually). That is the way I have been playing mine and also ruling as a GM. As an example, I have had wizards move and start casting summon monster, next round the spell completes (full round casting time) and take a move action again but the summoned beastie gets a full round action. It seems fair to me.
