Is there any kind of Leveling guide out there?

Advice

I used to play 3.5, but it's been years. Recently my mage has hit level 2 but I am kind of stuck. Basically I want to level my guy up but I don't want to miss anything. Throughout the pathfinder book there are little nuggets if information but there is no comprehensive list of 'things to do when leveling up' section.

So my question is.. Does anyone know of a comprehensive to-do list to level your guy up?

Thanks
Justin

1) Decide on which class this level will be.

2) Determine class abilities, Base Attack bonus and Saving Throwes for the level of your class from the tables in the Core Rulebook. If your class ability gives you a choice, take it now.
3) Determine hit points for the new level.
4) Assign Skill Points for the level.
5) Is your total level an odd number? If so, select a feat you meet the prerequisites for.
6) Are you a spellcaster? If so, determine how many spells you now know from the tablers in the book, or if you're a witch or wizard gain two new spells known.
7) Do you have animal companions, familiars, mounts or eidolons? See if their abilites change at this level.

Apart from 1, these can be done in any order so you can use your skills you gain at the current level to qualify for a feat.

I think that's everything.

Paul, are you including the preferred class bonus in step 2?

No. Add in the follwing steps:
1a) If the class is your favoured class select which bonus you'd like (hp, skill point or other favoured class benefit if you've got the APG)

Also
8) Does the level divide by 4? Then increase one of your abilities by 1. If this causes a change to the ability modifier start making the modifications now.

As a spellcaster check to see how many spells you get to add to your spellbook/formula book/familiar or if you can swap out any lower level spells known for different ones (spontaneous casters).

I unfortunately don't have my books on me today but to point out there actually are several paragraphs towards the beginning of the book (probably around the start of the classes chapter) that discusses how you level up a character and what order everything is done in.

Just an FYI, when I get my book I'll cit the page.

Try and DL a character sheet program like say PCGen. Its not the best but it is free. The program has a section that lists everything you need to complete your level. You can then write in everything on your character sheet afterwords.
