A witch casts unravel destiny (APG 325) on my character. Since I have 5 destiny points saved up with the Hero's Fortune feat (APG 324) I am now taking a -10 penalty to pretty much everything.
The spell says I can spend my hero points to reduce this penalty, so I make an attack against the witch who cursed me and spend a hero point to gain a +8 bonus on my attack roll.
Does my attack suffer a -10 penalty (for having had 5 hero points) or does it only suffer a -8 penalty (since I spent one, and now only have 4 remaining)?
