I live in Cuba, where due to political and economical restrictions... and the lack of culture about the subject, there is no way of acquiring roleplaying material. Even worst, I don't live in the capital, but in Holguín, a city in the northeast of the country. Ergo, is a major effort to play any kind of PnP RPG here in all the aspects: lack of dices, lack of corebooks, lack of personal. Luckily we don't lack imagination and perseverance. And with an effort lasting six years with are playing DnD with all success. We own 2 set of chessex dices, a few miniatures (you have to see our elf cleric with a dwarven miniature, it't the shortest elf ever), four tiles and the printed pirated copies of the three main corebooks of the 4e DnD. It's better now than before when we only had printed square paper (in an old dot printer), and a homemade roulette with parts of an old hard-drive with number painted to simulate the dices. Neat.

Steel_Wind and I both felt strongly enough to discuss and plan a random act of kindness!

Step One: Get all of our friends, fans and family to donate any gaming supplies you're not using or can easily part with.
Step Two: Have all those gaming odds and ends sent to Cuba for the Christmas season!
Step Three: Set up a Paypal donation button for anyone who'd prefer to help pay for the shipping. (First to Canada & then to Cuba! It's a lot more than you'd think!)
Step Four: Improve the (gaming) situation for a lot of people who usually don't have much to celebrate.

If you have any dice, minis, mats or other supplies to donate and if you reside in the United States, please send them to:

If you'd prefer to donate via Paypal, please visit Justice Radio's Webpage and click the Donate button center of the front page under the Gamers without Borders heading. We'll be announcing a cut off date to ensure that our care package reaches them in time for the holidays!

Future episodes will contain updates and details.

I hope everyone will join us in benefiting people like us, who love playing games, in a not so far away place.
If you'd like to include a message along with your donation, I will make certain they get them.
Or we'll read them on the cast, if you'd prefer.

I'm somewhat uncomfortable to be the one to flag this (I am not in favor of all those restriction issues) but I want to make sure that your organizations and Paizo don't get kicked in the butt.

I recently (this week) learned that there could be some requirements of the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) in the U.S. that would now prevent exportation outside the U.S. (ex.: Canada) that could be re-exported to an embargoed country (ex.:Cuba).

This might have some info but it's not a lot of fun to look at:

Just trying to keep you going, sorry for the load, I think your efforts are on the right side.

Note: Paizo is not involved in this at all.

As for me, I'm not terribly worried about the sudden application of export restrictions designed to prohibit the re-export of prohibited technologies to, say, North Korea suddenly being applied to battlemats, minis, dice and books to a gamer in Cuba. Moreover, being a delivery as a gift intented to be an educational gift for a humanitarian purpose, this is clearly not for a commercial purpose or effected or contrived so as to otherwise circumvent the export of controlled or banned materials from entering Cuba.

More importantly, I don't think the Obama DOJ is going after exporters of books anytime soon.

If you are still concerned, you can make a Paypal donation instead and sleep trouble-free.

Wow. Thanks for the praise, Azmyth. While I don't have a ton of cash at the moment, I figured I could spare a little from my collection to help those who don't have the same access as I. Keep the good work on the podcast, guys. I listen religiously!

Liberty's Edge

We released Episode #009 of the podcast last night.

Sure enough, within hours of releasing the podcast, we received two more parcels today from “Gaming Support” (real name unknown! He's an eBay RPG/game merchant from Clovis, California) and from Andrew Eskett in Sault St. Marie, ON, Canada.

We'll mention this on the podcast as well, but I wanted to thank you guys immediately (and publicly) without your having to wait for Episode #010.

The donations of both listeners were exceptionally generous. G/S provided the market square flip mat, two GameMastery Map packs, several Pathfinder softcover books, a copy of Tomb of Horrors (4E), several metal Reaper minis and another 20 or so plastic minis, still in the bags. G/S also provided three dice bags and five brand new sets of Chessex dice! I am going from memory, so I may have missed something

Andrew provided a lot of laser printed material from .pdfs as well as print outs of spellbooks from online sources (essentially Player’s Copies of the spellbook for most of the core classes - appreciated and clever of you to do so). Andrew pitched in with about a dozen or so 3.xx softcovers form third parties, some back issue of Dragon and Dungeon, a copy of From Shore to Sea, a set of Gamemastery Magic Item cards and a Game Mastery Map Pack – and a brand new set of dry erase markers, too!

In listing what these listeners have donated, I am going from memory, so I may have (and probably did) miss something. Please forgive me if I have done so.

If someone else reading this is saying “wow I can’t do that” please do not feel that way. Every little bit helps. Plastic minis and dice most especially. And at this point, Paypal donations to assist us with shipping costs is most DEFINITELY an issue and would be very appreciated. The link to the Paypal link appears on our site in the Gamers Without Borders thread here.

So far, I am impressed as all hell with the generosity and time taken by these listeners to make this happen; indeed, I am rather humbled by it.

You guys ROCK!

**VERY IMPORTANT!!**

First off, a THANK-YOU to our incredible listeners who have donated FAR MORE gaming stuff for Gamers Without Borders than we ever dared DREAM was possible. Thank-you, Thank-you, Thank-you. We will go over the details of our listeners' generosity in Episode #010. But - short strokes = WOW. ]

Secondly, and just as importantly: We need you to stop sending things now. The one exception to this would be plastic miniatures. If you have plastic minis to send -- we'll still accept those physical donations. However, everything else needs to stop. It's not that we did not need those things initially - it's that our listeners were so incredibly generous that we have received all we can send already. We're at MAX weight guys. Thank you so much. Now, you need to stop sending books. We have all we can manage. Thank-you so much.

Thirdly, and perhaps most importantly. We desperately need Paypal donations. Ten dollars each from listeners. That's what we need most. These donations will not be used to buy gaming stuff. Except for miniatures, we already have more gaming stuff than we can reasonably send. And that's the problem.

To send a 2'x2'x2' parcel to Cuba from Canada costs $175.00. Due to generosity from listeners, we already have one box filled to overflowing and are quickly about to have TWO such boxes filled with gaming stuff. Yes, dear listeners, the community really HAS been that generous. It is remarkable. Indeed, a few of those donations have been beyond remarkable. We're at the HOLY S#&~ stage of generosity with respect to a few of the boxes we received. Knock-you-off-your-chair-and-on-to-your-ass levels of generosity.

We will be auctioning off a spare copy I have of Pathfinder #1 Burnt Offerings which will go up on eBay this weekend in anticipation of its announcement on Episode #010. We will post the link to it here on the forums when it is up for sale. We hope to receive about $100 or so for that copy.

Even then, after paying for one modest item we ordered in for Edward (we'll tell you on air what it was as Edward can read this and I don't want to spoil that Xmas surprise) and to ship all of the material that Azmyth received in the USA to Canada - all the paypal donations received so far will be used up just to get the material to to Canada from the USA (and probably then some). Assuming the Burnt Offerings copy is sold for $100, we will still need to raise about $250 more to be able to send this stuff to Cuba via Canada Post.

Some listeners have literally donated $300+ worth of material and many listeners have donated around $60-100 or more. It's a humbling experience to see this stuff roll in, it really is. Last night, in fact, when Azmyth and CherryPie opened one of the boxes on Skype Video we were all stunned -- literally stunned and unable to parry for a moment when we saw what one listener from Texas had sent in. We'll comment more on the podcast in Episode #010 on those details.

SHORT STROKES: In order to close this deal and get this stuff to Edward's group in Cuba, we are begging those listeners who have not already donated to throw $10.00 in to the hat. We really do need to collect another $250.00 to be able to get this stuff to Cuba. If you are inclined to be more generous -- please consider buying the copy of Pathfinder #1 Burnt Offerings we will put up on eBay, the proceeds of which go to the shipping costs.

Sorry guys, I sent another box on Monday before I read this. Just auction off whatever you need to pay for shipping.

Today, I will be sending the US donations up to Canada.
The generosity of this community is inspiring and I'm proud to be a part of it!

I want to thank everyone (again) for helping us turn an idea of random kindness into a very special reality.

Once the dust has settled, I intend to post a list all of the benefactors who generously participated in Gamers w/out Borders.

I don't know if there will ever be another Project G w/out B,
but this one was an overwhelming success!

THANK YOU, THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!
