The most disappointing thing about this story is how little committment these two had. It's all well and good to abandon hatred, of course. But once they found out that they are the Chosen they jumped right into Judaism with faster than you can say "mozel tov". Fairweather Nazis like this give lunatic extremists a bad name.

The ones I'm used to dealing with (Troy NY was all skinhead south of roughly Liberty St.) generally weren't that disciminating. They just wanted to get a lot of tattoos and beat people up -- white, black, Jewish, whatever -- and didn't care too much if the victims lived or died. The whole "neo nazi" thing was more of an attempt to say "Ooh, look at me, I'm a scary bad-ass."

Just goes to show how quickly the loyalty of men can be swayed. Pathetic excuses for life, who have some false sense of entitlement. It just means they were envious of Jews from the start, they didn't hate them.
The worth of these individuals have been demonstrated, and they show themselves to have little. This doesn't mean I agree with their life decisions before or after their discovery.

If you had an understanding of the counter-culture the scene and look was derived from black music from the 60's. As time went by and with the advent of punk rock skins created their own music – Oi! This moved away from the ska/rocksteady/rude boy sound and was harder - directed at working class youth. And while it was a little more in nationalistic vein (vs. mostly left leaning punk) it was still very anti-establishment and anti-authority.The gangs were just a bi-product of the scene, just like punk gangs of the time. The neo-nazi thing grew out of the 80's but hardly took over the scene -in fact there was a lot of in-fighting with various skinheads (yeah, many were gangs) and racist/anti-racist skins fought it out - with many apolitical skins getting caught in the crossfire at the gigs or just on the street for looking like a skin.
So not all skins are neo's, but many of them (just like punks) are knuckleheads - just like in any scene or counter culture. 90% of what you hear is hype and what can make the news aka D&D syndrome.
These clowns in this story are just that, clowns. They blow with whatever wind they think will move them along to some kind of personal fulfillment.
Racial identity and racism are just intellectual laziness (IMO), a tool for people who don’t want to be challenged and who don't want to think. It's much easier to generalize than to actually address any real social problems, just an extension of the mentality which creates stereotypes – it's safe and it provides answers. Racial identity politics just takes that thinking up to 11.

Reminds me of an excellent move "The Believer", a story where the main protagonist/antagonist is a neo-Nazi skin but also knows he's a Jew and leads a bizarre and conflicted double life.
At least in that movie the main character didn't move to a side out of convenience - he knew from the beginning who and what he was and was trying to deal with his self-hatred and lived as both a neo-nazi and Jew.
I can't recommend this one enough.

Started reading Mien Kampf - Adolf's an arse. He has encountered Multiculturalism in the Austro-hungarian Parliament - and finds it disturbing to him as a German in that there are not enough Germans in the Parliament to Govern all these other less capable groups.
