I'm curious to see if anyone has used the factions from the faction guide (as in the PCs gaining points with various factions) in any of the APs. As I was reading through the Faction Guide, I was thinking of what factions might be appropriate for the various APs, and it got me to thinking if anyone had used this with the APs, and how this has added to or altered how the story has played out having these outside players with a hand in the events going on.

I used the faction guide to overhaul the STAP affiliations for my group's use. In my opinion, it's added a great deal for mine due to the extra flavor and NPC interactions/additional NPC's they would not have had dealings with otherwise. There have been a great deal of additional subplots and optional mini quests or side treks that were easily added in as ties to the above.

I do not have the Faction Guide. However, the new AP Racing To Ruin involves several factions all competing for a common goal. Depending on their presence in the faction guide, this may be a good opportunity to use the guide?

Racing to Ruin actually specifically mentions using the Faction Guide as a potential extra resource, since all of the factions but one already have writeups (including PA benefits and so on) in it.
I'd recommend using it only if your players seem deeply invested in the concepts behind one or more of the various factions; if it's just an alliance of convenience, however, I don't think it would be worth the effort.

I've been trying to work it in to my Kingmaker game, though it hasn't had much impact yet. Mainly I've been using it to show support gained by the various religious groups (mainly Erastil) they've been patroning, though I hope to use it to get the characters more curious about/involved with such groups as the Mendev Crusaders & the Bloodstone Swords.
I've also been giving a lot of thought as to how to use it in conjunction with the Kingdom rules, for showing what resources PCs in government might be able to bring to bear.
