I am in the process of reworking SCAD. First of all, I don't like that it's set in a volcano. I think that's a tad too fantastic and I think my players will see the eruption coming a mile off. I plan on setting the city at the base of some mountains (including a dormant volcano). I got the idea from EateroftheDead and I think it works well.
I'd also like to place the city and campaign in a forested area, rather than a jungle. I want a more "classic" feel to the campaign and fighting werebaboons and dinosaurs just doesn't feel classic to me.
I'm wondering if anyone else has done this. What animals did you swap out for? Obviously a werebaboon could easily be replaced with a classic werewolf, but what could a swap dinosaurs out for, for example.
Looking forward to hearing from you.

I actually like the fantastic imagery of a city in a volcano. I think the 'oh you KNOW it's gonna blow before we're done!' reaction from the players is a memorable element.
Werewolves are a good choice. Undead or demons can be suitable dinosaur replacements to tie in with the Haunted Village/Spire of Long Shadows and Demonskar. Maybe have a notable giant population as well considering the number of them in the path.
