Concerns about Inquisitor for Kingmaker game

Kingmaker

Dark Archive

I am jumping into a Kingmaker game my wife is running and I thought about an Inquisitor. The monster hunter/spontaneous caster/decent combat combo interested me.

My hang-up is I don't know what deity to follow to make this work (therefore helping set my alignment). There are two evil characters (one is NE and one is LE). If I play a Inquisitor of certain deities, I know we will butt heads. Obviously some friction and strife is par for the course.

So, I seek the assistance of all of you. What deity do you think will work best, or do you think I should go with being an Inquisitor of an ideal? Or do you think I should scratch the Inquisitor?

Thanks,
Dust

The campaign seems mostly designed under the assumption that the PCs will be running a lawful and/or good nation. The evil inclinations of your fellow PCs may cause difficulties down the road -- but that's an issue for your GM to resolve, not you.

The AP also favours Erastil (LG) rather heavily in its early stages, but an Inquisitor of Abadar (LN) wouldn't feel too out of place, once the business of exploration was over, and you could settle down and get civilizin'.

One of my PCs is a cleric of Irori (LN), and that seems to be working well so far. A neutral deity wouldn't mind a bit of evil in the party -- Gozreh and Pharasma come to mind -- but neutral gods can be difficult to inquisit for (to coin a phrase).

Gonturan,

Thanks for the ideas. I may scratch the Inquisitor.

Sovereign Court

Worship Asmodeus, dominating the Greenbelt in His name. The other two PC's will be of similar ethos.

Other than a few things with Erastil in the beginning, no god is really favored. And it doesn't really matter if the PCs worship him for it. This campaign works just as well with eviler NPCs as with good ones, though evil campaigns tend to work best when there are multiple evil people I find. Since you already have 2, lets take a look at the neutral and evil pantheons:

Asmodeous (LE) works great. Taming the wilderness in his name, gaining power. Bringing order and law under his mighty fist.

Abdar (LN) has a presence in the setting and works fine with Evil characters. He is the god of bankers, and everything should be done to the letter of the law. He brings order, but not necessarily to subjugate.

Urgathoa (NE) would be out to corrupt the uncorrupted. Spread the disease and baser qualities of humanity into the untamed wilds.

Norgorber (NE) could have any number of reasons for coming out here. Of course, his reasons would be his own to keep.

A Nethys (N) follower could be searching to the secrets of the first world in the area.

Lamashtu (CE) could be trying to make sure there is always a place in the area for her children and the untamed wilds.

There are plenty of ways to play an inquisitor in the campaign.

money and BPs from selling major magic items eventually becomes everyones god, so Abadar is perfect

we have 2 LE's in our party, and they have been no clashes over morale issues
