Can you throw a smokestick?

Nothing says you can't, however, the less radius, more expensive smoke pellet explicitly says you can throw it with a ranged increment of 10. Which sort of implies you can't throw a smokestick.

What's the story on all the different alchemical items?

At the least, you should be able to throw it as an improvised weapon, right? I doubt that would have any negative impact, since hitting a square is really easy anyways.

IIRC, things that aren't meant to be thrown (ie, not thrown weapons) can be thrown as improvised thrown weapons with a 10' range increment.

What Skeld said.

A smokestick is an incense stick whereas a smoke pellet is a smokebomb or incense cone. You can toss all of them, but the one built for tossing will toss more easily.

If you wanted to get a smokestick to go further, tie it to a bottlerocket, or just have the alchemist devise some firework that's basically a smoky rocket.

The APG has smoke arrows, too, which might do what you're looking to do.

I grabbed those as well, of course. But a 10 foot fog cloud effect is probably more powerful than a 5 foot one.

Mostly, I'm looking to interrupt line of sight on spellcasting with a readied action. I'm not sure the smoke arrow can do that with the 5 foot cloud, but a smokestick definitely can.

I'm also curious as for the alchemical items that are sort of meant to be thrown but don't explicitly mention it. Grenade attack at a square seems the way to go for such things.
