Hello all, I've been going over the crafting rules in the rulebook and forums, and wanted to make sure I understand the rules-as-written:
To craft a Well of Many Worlds requires Craft Wondrous Item, gate; Cost: 41,000 gp...so let me know if I have the following correct:
1) This item would take 41 days to craft.
2) The PC would need to cast gate every day of crafting (41 times) OR use 41 scrolls or 41 wand charges.
One thing I'm not sure on is if the PC cannot cast gate can they take the +5 penalty for not meeting the requirement? I assume creating a scroll without knowing the spell would be out of the question since it is a spell completion item, correct?
Thanks for your time!

The crafter must prepare the spell each day and the slot is expended as if cast, but they dont actually cast the spell. and yes for each requirement not met the DC is +5. and you are also correct on the spell completion item requirements.
From the PFRD:
The DC to create a magic item increases by +5 for each prerequisite the caster does not meet. The only exception to this is the requisite item creation feat, which is mandatory. In addition, you cannot create spell-trigger and spell-completion magic items without meeting their spell prerequisites.

btw, if you can't cast Gate, i'm assuming you're not 17th caster lvl. So the DC would increase by an additional +5.
Caster Level is only a prerequisite for crafting an item when it is called out in the prerequisite list. Since it isn't for this item, it would not add +5 to the Spellcraft check.
