Kingmaker - how do you clear minor items < 4000gp from your buildings?

Kingmaker

At our newly built exotic craftsman, we've only managed to 'create' items of low gp value. Is there an official method of clearing these from the building slot?

Our confusion is resulting from the text in the Income Phase Step 3 - Sell Valuable Items; "You can attempt to sell items that cost more than 4,000gp through your city's markets to bolster you kindom's Treasury).

The players bought the first few items, but after a few turns this is going to get quite costly (we've spent about 700gp so far).

PS... I did do a quick search of the forums and know this question has come up before. I apologize for asking again but since I'm a player I didn't want to read thru the mega thread and hit spoilers.

You can sell them the same way you sell magic items of >4000 gp value. You just don't get any BP back (you just clear the slot).

as soon as you get lots of medium and several major items to sell, and your city base value is >4000gp, we have found keeping track of minor items is an irrelevancey, and actually really slows things down

I have the players auto-sell them in the markets and the value of the item adds to the 'donation pool' mechanic that kingmaker uses to get BP out of GP. Every time the minor items value is less than 4,000, the minor items are sold and their value is added- once the pool hits 4,000GP you get a BP out of it and the surplus goes into the next 4,000GP pool.

Probably the easiest way to handle it.

We also have them bank it. Actually, after the first few years of game play, we decided to just average it. We kept track of the next 20 minor items, and the average was just a little over 400 GP. So now we don't even look them up. They sell 10 minor items and get a BP. Must faster. We only look it up if it's something a PC actually wants to buy.

Wow you guys roll epicly bad for minor magical items...

Thanks for the replies, I'll pass the info along to our DM.

Yeah, we've just hit the same problem, and I used this tool to generate 500 items (50 at a time). The average was just shy of 1000gp. I suggested to the GM that we make it 5 slots per economy roll to sell for 1 BP, to account for the fact that we'll have to sell the occasional more expensive item for less.

If you read through the Kingdom Building thread stickied up top there around page 3 I believe this question is answered officially by Developers. Im not hunting for it though, best of luck

The chances of getting a minor item worth 4k is roughly 10%. My DM claimed anything less would not create a significant impact to the system/economy and did not want to keep track of stuff combining up to 4000, so we worked out a compromise that everyone is happy with.

Since, as he claimed, the slots only contain exceptional items that would be brought to our attention, the minimum value of the items generated is now the city's base value. Just a couple shops and already the cheap potions and scrolls have stopped showing up. Since he has a bit of a lazy streak he'll probably just throw in +2 weapons instead of re-rolling items once we get to base value 4000.
