Ideal-Devoted Inquisitor Favored Weapon?

Rules Questions

So just for fun, I'm making an inquisitor character to compare to an arcane duelist bard I made for an upcoming game (reading the "how do they match up" thread made me curious), and I've come across an...interesting problem.

The book says that with GM approval, you can have an ideal-focused rather than deity-focused inquisitor, and pick your domain based on your inclinations. That's all well and good...but what do you do about the "favored weapon of your deity" proficiency, then? Just...pick any weapon? Not get a proficiency with one? It's kinda related to deities too, being that some of them, have simple weapons that the class is already proficient with, but I assume those ones are just out of luck...but it's not so clear with the ideal-focused ones...

Sovereign Court

Pretty much the same as it used to be in 3.5 with idealogy clerics. Decide on one weapon proficiency to go with your theme and beg your DM to let it be the one you get.

Plenty of cleric deities get a favoured weapon they are already proficient with.

Yeah, I know the deities granting an already-proficient weapon are just SOL. Seems like they should get a martial weapon or something, but c'est la vie. But I wasn't sure if there were any guidelines/rules about ideal ones listed anywhere.

Sidenote: is it just me, or is it really odd that inquisitors get longbow proficiency but not rapier? Maybe it's just the Warhammer memory in me, but rapiers seem like an iconic inquisitor weapon, and bows...don't. >_> <_<
