okay creature with gaze attacks make all within 30 ' make a save at the beginning of the round then again on the creatures actual turn question I have is at the beginning of its turn lets say there are 10 people in the room they all fail their save can it really petrify all 10 of them at once or since it is a supernatural ability and basically a standard action just the first one that fails its save
If everyone fails their save, everyone in the room is screwed.
Everyone makes a save on their turn. Only if the creature spends a standard action to target a single creature with his gaze attack does that target need to make a 2nd save against the gaze (on the gazer's turn).
Using the total defense action is a popular tactic for intelligent creatures with gaze attacks.
