Scanner is needed for your character sheet and the chronicle sheets if you've played the character before. If it's your first time playing then you could get away with not having a scanner, but I'd need everything from your character sheet that's on a PFS character sheet in some digital form that's easy to read.

Pg. 3 of The Pathfinder Society Organized Play Guide:
The Core AssumptionPathfinder Society Organized Play assumes that every player has a copy of the Pathfinder RPG Core Rulebook and a copy of Pathfinder Chronicles: Seekers of Secrets, A Guide to the Pathfinder Society, and that every Game Master (GM)has the above plus a copy of the Pathfinder RPG Bestiary. Unless noted in later chapters, everything contained in the Core Rulebook and Seekers of Secrets is legal for play in Pathfinder Society Organized Play. This includes base classes, feats, spells, equipment, and even prestige classes. While new Pathfinder RPG books in the future may be added to this core assumption, there are many other Pathfinder-brand products that are not part of the core, but have aspects that are legal for play. Please see Chapter 13 for details on additional resources for Pathfinder Society Organized Play. This chapter will be frequently updated as new Pathfinder products are released.

Fairly certain that it has been said in the past that SoS isn't really a 'must have' as it introduces another stumbling block for new players.
For new players nothing is required, but for continued and repeating characters it would be a required IMO. Hard to know how to be a pathfinder if you haven't read what it means to be a pathfinder and everything a pathfinder goes through.

You can run it as you like, but that isn't how it is intended to work. A player doesn't have to own anything to sit down at a PFS table. They can make a character using the free Guide to play and the prd which is free on this site. They /should/ own these books for ease of play and in the case of SoS for flavor mostly- but I don't think players are commonly turned away for not having either when they sign up for a session.
Core Assumption means that when a scenario references an item or something like that they do not feel the need to reprint all of its stats etc in the text of the scenario. It means they can say "Blood spindle ion stone" SoS p 55 and it is assumed that you can look it up. Likewise a character can use things from Core Assumption books (feats, traits, purchased items) and it is assumed that the dm has a copy. Any book that is not part of this core requires the player to physically bring that book to the table in case it comes up during play. Obviously we make exceptions for that to run games online.

Yes, I'm going to bail as well. I've decided to kick off my own hombrew campaign, instead. If anyone is interested, look here.

I've been wanting to get into PFS games, what would be the posting schedule at RPOL.net? I would be bringing in a fresh PFS Character, probably the one I'm stating up on my Paizo account, Witch Doktor Jakull, Half-Orc Alchemist. I have all the requisite books and then some...and when do you start?
Edit: This guy, he's not done yet...

Everything is explained there that I think needs explaining. Though feel free to prove me wrong. :)
You don't make a character here, or on RPOL.net. You either get the digital sheet off my RPOL game in the "start here" section or use another form such as an editable PDF and send it to me. I have no preferred method for how I get the sheet, as long as I get it.

Then posting it on the official PFS section of Paizo works? I'll use the format you have set-up...
What
I was asking is how I make a character name change for RPOL, I used my standard Xaaon name since I assumed we'd be able to change it, but I can't find a way to make any alias' on RPOL.net

Jakuul is now complete, I also sent him to you at RPOL, since I sent that version in your format, I'm going to update this sheet to something more legible for myself.
When I was putting it in a format more readable to me, I noticed a couple mistakes, this sheet is corrected, the one I remember was my attribute bonuses for saves FORT/REF saves were flipped. They're good on my sheet.
Hopefully we'll generate a bit more interest!!!!
Come on Pathfinders!!! Gear up time to explore.

GM is AWOL since sept 1......
I have no info......
I'm still around. I don't check this particular thread everyday, but I do NORMALLY check the other thread (RPOL) every day. I had my brother and friends over all day yesterday and we had an epic 15 hour D&D session. Then I promptly passed out due to my brain shutting down.

Looking for GMs familiar with Pathfinder RPG and it's organized play rules. I have more demand for games than I am personally willing to run. I want to be able to help as many players as I can and thus I am looking for help. If you're able to help come by my game.
