Hey ya'll,
Ok so here is where we can flesh out your characters, and bring them to life. We'll start with the basics:
18 Point buy, 4th level (or 4 ECL).
PFRPG Core and APG, plus Sunken Empires. You can use most of the Sunken Empires stuff, just nothing to do with the lost tech or Vril, at least not for now. This is an optional book, don't feel you need it or anything, but it does offer some really cool flavor for underwater adventuring.
Additional available race:
Naga, Greensnake
+2 Dex, -2 CHA
Medium, Humanoid (Reptilian)
Base Speed 30 ft
Low-Light Vision: Naga can see twice as far as humans in conditions of dim light.
Stability: Naga receive a +4 racial bonus to their Combat Maneuver Defense when resisting
a bull rush or trip attempt while standing on the ground.
+1 Natural Armor
Poison Resistant: Naga receive a +2 bonus to saving throws vs. poison.
Tail slap: A Naga receives a tail slap as a natural (secondary) weapon. The slap does 1d3+1/2 Str Bludgeoning damage, and has the same reach as the character (5' for a standard Naga). This means the Naga is always considered armed and threatening.
Languages: Common and Draconic.
There will be some racial feats and traits for Naga to give them a poison bite, weapon finesse with spears, and possibly access to a collective consciousness. I'm still working on those.
Technology level is roughly late bronze age, which limits some gear choices, mostly in heavy armors, which does not appear to be a major point of contention for this group. If you have a copy of 3.0 Oriental Adventures and want to use some of the items form that setting, let me know, and we can likely work something out. You will probably end up at sea at some point, not sure if you will crew your own ship.
I will try to post additional world info over the weekend, some more on the specific region, as well as a world map. They're rough, but I'm old school, so that's about the best I can do :)
Post your characters in the normal Alias area and let me know when you are ready for me to review them. Check out my various characters if you're new to the PbP thing. I hope to get moving by mid week, but if you need more time, that's totally cool, just let me know.

Is anyone else having trouble getting to these?
| DM Ender |
I was wondering if I did that right. Apparently not :)
Try these
Oh, and a couple random house rules;
1. You'll get one action point/level. This allows you to add 1d6 to any one roll before you know the outcome of the roll. Great for those "gotta hit/save/catch' moments. Give me a 1d4 roll to see how many you are staring with.
2. If you find yourself on a ship, it is safe to assume you can always find a rope to swing on. You can make a Acrobatics OR Climb check, DC10 to move 10' in any direction. For every point you exceed 10, you can go an additional foot, to a max of 20'. Only the first and last square counts as threatened, unless you enemy has reach, so a 15 foot result would avoid AoOs from the enemy in the 10' square.
3. If you choose to jump from a great height aboard ship, you can attempt to slow your fall using the sails. DC20 Acrobatics check, for each 5 points by which you exceed the base DC, and additional 10' of damage is negated. So if the swashbuckling fighter is bullrushed off the mizzen mast at a height of 40', he faces a DC40 check to negate all falling damage. By no means fool proof, but makes it slightly less daunting to climb up there in the first place, no?
4. If for some reason you are playing from home, and you use a nautical term, you must drink.

@ Dram
@ Crisk-

Using favored class for the skill
| Balam Ixhuay |
Boy did I mess up those HP rolls. They have been fixed in the character profiles.
Balam: +8 first level, +4 for Con, +4 Toughness, +4 Favored Class= 36HP
Jyx: +8 first level, +8 for Con, +4 Toughness= 31HP
The characters are mostly finished now. I still need to look through the APG for traits, and Sunken Empire for spells and gear.

Ok, cool, now we're firing on all cylinders. First "real" DM post should be up by Wed 0900 EST or so. I'd like to see semi-final characters up by 1700 EST Tuesday, so I can review them over night.
If after reading the back story you have somewhere you would particularly like to explore, let me know. Otherwise, we board the rail road for a brief trip on Wed AM :)

Just as an FYI I will, likely, not be able to post until Thursday afternoon EST. I will (hopefully) be traveling from 1800 EST Wednesday night until 1300 EST Thursday. I will try and use the internet at the airports, but there are no guarantees. The good news, though, is I will be back in the states after that, and so will be posting from the same time zone.

DM Ender wrote:Doh!! I realize that save one, I picked all human characters!!!!Plus a raven, jaguar and a monkey.
A monkey, btw is not on the official list of "approved" animal companions, although it has to be somewhere. Any thoughts?
Treat it like something simliar, reskin it and call it theme :)
That is what i have done in previous games when I dm'd
Just a suggestion

You are all very silly people!!! I like it :)
re: Monkey- Just use the familiar base stats w/ druid "power ups". We'll figure out it's 8th level boost as we go. I'm thinking an INT boost and possibly a skill focus feat? Assuming you want to keep it a shoulder monkey. We can, of course, make it bigger. Though that would still only make it small.
It's a zoo around here!!!

The raven speaks...aquan? iiiinteresting.
yeah, spell components are pretty much hand waved unless they go over 49GP. I generally assume a caster is just randomly adding things to their spell pouches as they go, unless you make a point of saying "I am shopping for components", which is fine too.

@Crisk looks like witches are better healers than druids. Cure moderate is a 3rd level spell for me, so if anyone is really hurt that will be up to you. I have a wand of cure light and when I get 3rd level spells I'll memorize cure moderate. Thanks for splitting up the healing with me.
@DM my character is pretty much done. I need to add traits which I will do just as soon as I get off work. I will also probably add another wand or two. Let me know if there are any concerns.

@Balam yeah when we get to 5th my heal hex will turn into a cure moderate hex 1/day per person in the group. Which will give me up to 6 cure moderate a day(assuming 1 per person plus my memmed one) and 2 cure light.
I'm trying the witch as a supplment to the Rogue, that's why I have acrobat/climb and unseen servant and a crow that only me and my bro can speak too, he can't understand people but he can look and see if people are in a room and tell us...
The servant has stolen many an item for us in the hussle and bussle of the city streets.... It can't pick pockets but it's good with picking an item up off a table when we are distracting the merchant...
