Alright, the Party I am DMing for just tried sneaking into the fort. After being repulsed by the zombies, they have now decided that they want to go the exact opposite way and do an all out assault. To that end, they want to enlist the aid of the Swordlords and Kesten and his guards. What exactly would be the swordlord's answer to them? Would Kesten actually help storm the fort, and if so, under what conditions? Also, what would be appropriate "stats" for the Palisade? One of the players wants to go medieval on it. Thanks in advance.
Well, part of the reason that the party was sent there in the first place was to take care of the bandits themselves, so I'm guessing the Swordlords wouldn't be too thrilled about sending a contingent to bumf*** nowhere. Even if they did, it would take about a week to get the force over there, giving the bandits enough time to bolster their defences or just go guerrila on the party.
Now, Kesten would definitely be up for it: one of his motivations is to regain his honor in glorious battle against the dangers of the area, even if it meant his life.
Anyways, so if they do end up getting the Swordlords' help, you can use that in the future to create more conflicts: the party ends up owing the Swordlords, and it could mean trouble for their fledgling kingdom.
