Celerity + Counterspell

Homebrew and House Rules

I'm not sure if this is in the right section but I just need to know if anyone can help me with this.

I know a lot of people think celerity from the PHB2 is broken.

I was playing a character that used celerity to counterspell an
spellcasting npc.

my interpretation is that since celerity allows you to act as though you readied, I should be able to counter a spell, an not change my initiative count.

the DM ruled that it did change my initiative count.

the main reason I'm asking this is based on initiative I was the second to last person to go that round, using the celerity allowed me to acted during the beginning of the initiative count, knowing that when my initiative came up, I would be dazed. but since the DM moved my initiative based on the ready action rule,
technically I wouldn't be able to do anything?

Readying an action doesn't usually change your initiative count I believe, only delaying does that (I could be wrong but this is without checking).

Readying changes your initiative count to whenever the readied action was triggered.
If nothing triggers your readied action before your previous count comes up again, you lose your readied action and can act again as normal.

When a readied action is triggered it will change your initiative.

Also, I am not sure about celerity, but you cannot ready actions if you are flat footed, so I would assume you cannot use celerity until you have acted at least once during the combat.

@AvalonXQ I know this, but that is not what the spell does.

@Charender I know this, but that is not what the spell does, also celerity is an Immediate Action spell, that allows you to take a standard action as though you readied, and leaves you dazed until the end of your next action, PHB2 page 105.

Celerity (and its Lesser and Greater kin) does not change your initiative count.

Well thanks for those that answered, this still doesn't fix my problem I'm having with this DM.

I just need to know if any other DM/GM that allow the spell celerity, would you change the initiative of the player cause they used the spell to do a Counterspell action.
