1. Can a monk use his ki pool abilities (specificly the +20 movement speed bonus or the +4 dodge ac bonus) when in armor?

2. Can Improved Unarmed Strike (and at least one level in monk) and a reach weapon be combined in a whirlwind Attack (to attack both close and far enemies)?

3. Can the "Lunge" feat and "Whirlwind Attack" feat be used at the same time?

1. All the abilities that a monk loses when wearing armor are specifically stated, so I don't see they lose their ki pool abilities while in armor.

2. You can use a reach weapon to make a whirlwind attack, but reach precludes you from attacking those adjacent to you. If you're asking can you switch between the reach weapon and and unarmed strike, I would say no since Whirlwind attack says one melee attack which implies with one weapon.

3. I don't see why this would be a problem. You can use lunge with a full attack action, so attacking all foes within reach for the AC penalty doesn't seem an issue to me. I'm guessing you're looking at a monk using unarmed strikes, whirlwind attack, and lunge combined. Sounds fine to me.

Interesting point to consider. Evasion under monk says they lose this ability in armor. Improved evasion does not say it but reiterates that if they're helpless they can't use the ability. So can a monk in armor use Improved Evasion?

In general, if you cannot use a prerequisite ability, then the ability that is dependent on it cannot be used either. If evasion is considered a prerequisite for improved evasion, and evasion cannot be used in armor, then neither can improved evasion. YMMV, of course.

I see where my skimming evaded me. Monks can use evasion in light armor (much like rogues). I do see your point, Slim. It's still Evasion, it's just Improved.
