Inquisitors with the Death domain

Rules Questions

I was statting a 10th level Inquisitor with the Death domain of choice.
The following power however raised a doubt:

Death's Embrace (Ex): At 8th level, you heal damage instead of taking damage from channeled negative energy. If the channeled negative energy targets undead, you heal hit points just like undead in the area.

Does the power remain the same even if the Inquistor is not able to actively channel negative energy? The power sounds much less powerful than in the hands of a cleric.

Liberty's Edge

It should function. Sounds like this inquisitor needs a cleric/anti-paladin cohort.

With the selective channel feat so he doesn't splashover on his other party members.

Thanks, I guess it will work out anyway.

It will come into play when you are fighting evil clerics/necromancers.

If the evil cleric channels negative to harm your party, you gain hp. If an evil cleric channels negative to heal his undead, you gain hp. If your good cleric/oracle channels positive to heal your party, you gain hp.

It will work out fine.
