Bow Proficiency

Rules Questions

If a bard is proficient with the shortbow, does that mean she is also proficient with the composite shortbow?

Yes.

Excellent, thanks! =)

Frankly it boggles my mind that there are multiple 'bow' proficiencies. Really is there so much difference between the use of the Long, Short and composite versions of the bow family that requires vastly different proficiencies?

Crossbows I can see being different from regular bows but within that family as wel I cannot see how different skills are needed.

Of course I am not an actual Archery buff in RL so maybe someone who is can give us some info?
