Seems to me then that at least for Withes this is a 2 for 1 as your black cat hacks up a spidery looking hairball.

i would say no since 'share spells' only applies to spells with "Target: You" (See: Alter Self) not spells with an effect instead of a target. The personal range isn't related to the 'share spells' familiar ability.
On a completely unrelated note... i'm now very tempted to have my familiar altered into a kobold
