Razmir / Price of Immortality trilogy in the Forgotten Realms

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Hi guys,

I'm currently planning my next campaign, and I am going to import the excellent Price of Immortality campaign arc into the Realms.

Here are some of my picks for important locations

General campaign set around the Moonsea/Vast and the Pirate isles
-Kassen is in the northern Vast region, not far from Mulmaster
-Tamran is replaced by the good old city of Saltmarsh, I located it close to the Flooded Forest, at the border between the Dalelands and the Vast.
-The Isle of Terror is one of the numerous Pirate Isles of the Sea of Fallen Stars.
-Rather than the slaying place of a god, the Isle of Terror has been extremely marked by the Times of Trouble in 1358DR, and could have been the resting place of one of the numerous avatars that walked on the world then.

My biggest challenge is finding or creating a Faerunian equivalent for Razmir. Who could that be? Where could the center of the cult be located?

Any idea folks?

Dark Archive

The sorcerer Razmir was once the Chosen of Lleira. She died (maybe, reply hazy, ask again later), and he went even more barking mad than he already was, and now has the most tiny infinitesmal spark of divinity burning behind his eyes. Adepts, Bards, Sorcerers and Illusionists who may have once been Clerics of Lleira make up his 'priesthood.'

I'd pick a random Dale, or one of the Damaran nations up in the Bloodstone lands, to make into the new Razmiran. Some country that isn't terribly entrenched into the setting as it is would be best, IMO.

Picking one of the Dales on the Mulmaster / Raven's Bluff side of the woods (Scardale?) to transform in this way could also tie into Lleira's old moniker of Lady of the Mists, in that the country could be known for it's thick fogs, both in the forest and along the river banks. Once it became Razmiran, it might have expanded to conquer an adjacent Dale or two, becoming a larger country in it's own right, and one that Sembia regards with trepidation, as it has expanded south into traditionally Sembian territory.

Many thanks Set,

These are really nice ideas, and I will certainly make good use of some if not all of them!

The Old Empires may also be an option, as would some of the lands near Tethyr.

  • Old empires, with the return of the gods to the realms (no more Avatar-kings) a high level mage might be able to start a Razmir type scam.
  • Tethyr - Well Shoon's immortal (pretty much) so why not start up Razmir as a hobby? Also works as good misdirection, "Yes adventurers, look over here at the False God while I work my Lichy evil over there..."
Interesting idea for the unapprochable east.
    Spoiler:
FRazmir was orgininally a Rathmari witch, who made the mistake of finding a girdle of sex change. Now a male, and outcast by hir sisters as a result, s/he fled into the wilds of the Hoardlands. Dominating a local baron, s/he's carved out a land (and apparently a new set of pronouns) for hirself and put hirself up as a divinity. S/he has some contacts in Thay, who don't know it's one of their old enemies playing them against hir homeland. Maybe FRazmir is so bugnut crazy now that S/he thinks the path to divinity will allow hir to pick a gender.

That said, Set's ideas are better.

  • Set's ideas are particularly good.

I've just started looking to place it, and I have (mostly) decided to put it in Cormyr:

    - Kassen will be Thunderstone (eastern Cormyr): that town has no map (other than an exceedingly lame entry in the old Four From Cormyr module), and Kassen's map is a much better fit based on the town's location and descriptions

    - Tamran will be Arabel

    - The island will be in the Wyvernwater; probably smaller than what the module shows (it's too big anyways, AFAIC) and mist-enshrouded and 'lost'.

Set's ideas incorporating Leira are pretty darn good. I think I might make it an avatar of Leira or a powerful Proxy.

After reading through some of my FR books (2nd ed/3rd ed), I'm leaning more and more towards Tethyr and the neighbouring regions.

Razmir could be a chosen of a dead deity, who is trying since the Time of Troubles to re-establish the might of the cult.

Actually, that island has a Mist Dragon on it and can go up and down beneath the surface of the water. We featured the island (and the Mist Dragon) on it in Wyvern Crown of Cormyr.
