List of Pathfinder PDF Updates

Scarab Sages

Hi there.

I know when you purchase a Pathfinder PDF and the PDF is updated you get an email. I usually do not get time there and then to download the updated version.

Is there a page that lists the date when a Pathfinder PDF is updated? If not then such a page would be of use, I believe.

Currently, no. We do see the value of such a thing, though, and will probably figure out a way to better communicate it.

What are the chances of putting a layer in the updated PDF that when selected shows change bars against the first printing?

Pretty much nil. Our workflow—the way PDFs are built from files destined for the printer—wouldn't easily support that. The easiest way to know what's changed is to download the standalone errata document.

Can't the product page for each book just say what printing it is? If the book is still on the 1st printing, it would not say anything special, while if the book were on a 2nd or higher printing, like the Core rulebook, then the page could have a note saying so, the same as how the credits page in the actual book says what printing it is. That would be a little work for someone at Paizo to do, but not nearly as much as other options. And while customers would have to look at a product's page to verify if pdf's were up to date, that is still better than not knowing for sure. After all, pdf's are only updated when the physical book gets a new printing.

As it is now, for at least the Core Book and Bestiary, when you look at the page there are links to the errata pdf's, but nowhere says the book you would get if ordering is actually the latest printing. That makes it seem like if someone were to order the books, that they might get a 1st printing and have to then download the errata to be current.
