Hey guys,
I wanted some extra goodies for my 'nearly all non spellcaster' party and thought, for the front line fighters, to give feats workign the following way:
-Fast healing: Requires 26 Con and grants fast healing 1.
-DR: Requires 26 Con and grants DR 1/-.
How would you give fast healing or damage reduction to your high-level party members via feats? Maybe rage powers or fighter only feats?

In Unearthed Arcana there was the concept of reserve points in which everyone had basically two pools of hit points, your first pool that determined when you died, and a second pool that started restoring the first pool at the rate of 1 per minute of non-strenuous activity (non-combat). Your second pool was equal to your first pool. You recover reserve points(your second pool) the same way you normally recover your hp (a nights rest for a third level character would restore hp and 3 reserve points). Also any magical healing in excess of your hit points transfers over to any lost reserve points (so a character who was down 6 hp and was healed for 8 would regain 2 reserve points). Hope this is helpful.

A fast healing ragepower seems fair to me fast healing 1 at first but allow the barbarian to take it multiple times, have it automatically active while raging.
fast healing as a feat I am otherwise not a fan of, unless it is a feat requiring troll lineage or something similar, a con 17 requirement seems fair to me in that case granting fast healing 1.
A DR ragepower already exists ofcourse.
DR as a feat I do not mind much, it should stack with DR from race or class abilities requirement con 15, base Fortitude save +6 granting DR 1/-.
There were combat form feats in 3.5 complete warrior I think, granting a fighter a disciplined trance like combat state granting him supernatural abilities
Allowing such a thing might propel a fighter into a controlled rage-like state granting him similar benefits, fast healing and DR might be two possible feats/abilities.

Thanks for the advice guys, very helpful.
The "Roll with it" feat sounds kind of nice. Might reduce it to DR 1/-, not sure.
The rage power to allow fast healing 1 sounds fair enough, since there is already a DR 1/-. This begs for an awnser to the question:
'Generally speaking, what's better, F.H 1 or DR/1?'
DR applies against multiple attacks per round, at higher levels it will mean more damage absorption than F.H. For a barbarian (since these are rage powers), it usually means A LOT MORE damage mitigation (than F.H) since he will be in the frontlines and with a low A.C.
F.H applies for other kinds of damage (elemental, magical, unholy) that are (at least in my campagin) kind of rarer, except when the players explore elemental planes, but then they have protection spells already.
As such, I'd say, allow the Fast healing rage power, but give it F.H 2 insead of 1 and requirement Renewed vigor for kicks.
The Second Wind sounds MMOish (same name than WoW anyone?). hmmeh...
The Unearthed Arcana option also sounds MMOISH as well.
But those 2 ideas together inspired me for what seems to be a decent solution for an epic but gritty setting:
Fast Healing (ok need a better name)
Prereqs: High Con, High for save.
Benefits: F.H 1 until you reach half your hit points. If you are above half your H.P, no benefit.

Fast healing is better than DR, because a few of minutes between combats and the characters are full up, Your feat would probably work, as would the rage power (I'd go fast healing 2, since he can rage for a limited number of rounds per day).
Oh yeah I forgot to specify 'in the context of F.H being usable only during rage'.
So what name for this high-level feat... hmm.

Added a small note concerning non lethal damage. Did not want to penalize arcane casters so removed the fortitude req.
Fast healing
You heal wounds at an extraordinary rate.
Prerequisite: Constitution 19.
Benefit: You heal non-lethal damage at a rate of 1 per round. Furthermore, if you have suffered no lethal damage and your total hit point is below half your total, you gain fast healing 1.
Enraged Regeneration (Ex): While raging, the barbarian gains fast healing 2. Prerequisites: Renewed vigor.

for the ragepower: requirement level 6
I'd stick to fast healing 1 in rage, but make it fast healing 2 in greater rage. Personally I'd remove the below half hitpoint requirement since rage is limited you won't use it outside of combat anyway.
I'd be much more strict on the fast healing feat.
Fast healing (feat) : > needs a different name <
prerequiste : con 19, endurance, toughness
Benefit : you heal non-lethal damage at a rate of 1 per round. furthermore, if your total hit points are below half your total you gain fast healing 1. This fast healing stacks with other fast healing sources.
Still a cool feat I'd consider picking it up with a dwarven warrior for sure, barbarian dwarf lvl 7 str 18, dex, 10, con 17 int 10 wis 12 cha 8
con item +2 and rage kicks up hp to 90 (average), add in diehard and he keeps standing till -23 hp in a rage too. DR 1 and fast healing 1(2 below half hp), with renewed vigor he'd have a fair chance to survive battles too =p.
