Natural Lycanthrope PC

Advice

So my DM is allowing me to create a Lawful Good Werewolf character, and quite frankly I'm having trouble understanding how making one works.

On page 196 of the bestiary manual is states that Lycanthropes get +2 Wis and -2 Cha in all forms, and +2 Str/Con in animal and hybrid forms. Yet on page 198 it shows a human form Str 17, Dex 13 and Con 14, and in Hybrid Str 19, Dex 15, Con 17, which means the stat gains were +2, +2, and +3 respectively. So I'm not sure what to go with and neither is he.

Now I've made a D&D 3.5 Werewolf PC and it was more clear on how it worked.

So does anyone have any insight on how this would actually work?

Thanks in advance for any help you can offer

Actually, the gains were +2 Str and +2 Con. The line you're both missing is..."In animal and hybrid form, the lycanthrope’s

ability scores are the same as the base creature’s or the base
animal’s, whichever ability score is higher."

Human Str 17, Dex 13, Con 14, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 8
Hybrid/Animal Str 19, Dex 15, Con 17, Int 8, Wis 14, Cha 8
Normal Wolf Str 13, Dex 15, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6

The Hybrid and Animal forms in the example will have Str 19 (+2 over normal), Dex 15 (which is a wolf's normal Dex), Con 17 (which is +2 over a wolf's normal Con), and mental attributes don't change (since the character's normal mental stats are all higher than a wolf's).

Note that the +2 Wis and -2 Cha affect all forms, so they're already included in the 14 Wis and 8 Con.

Does that help to clarify things?

Ok I understand now.

So Hybrid/Animal forms just take the best scores from Human/Animal forms.

And just to clarify if my characters ability scores were all 1's, I know kinda of extreme, in Hybrid/Animal form I would basically take all the base animals scores because their higher.

Making the stats look like this (no modifiers included)

Human Str 1, Dex 1, Con 1, Int 1, Wis 1, Cha 1
Hybrid/Animal Str 13, Dex 15, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6
Normal Wolf Str 13, Dex 15, Con 15, Int 2, Wis 12, Cha 6

and on the flip side if all my stats we 18's my stats would look like this, once agian no modifier included

Human Str 18, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 18, Cha 18
Hybrid/Animal Str 18, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 18, Cha 18
Normal Wolf Str 18, Dex 18, Con 18, Int 18, Wis 18, Cha 18

Even though the above is extreme cases, it would be correct right? Or did I miss the boat entirely?
