New Eidolon forms

Homebrew and House Rules

I was just thinking about how to use the Eidolon to duplicate some of the more unusual creatures we have wandering the planes when I realized there is no option for a geometric base form or an amorphous one.

While I work on those, does anyone have any other forms you think should be added to the Eidolon list?

I was thinking that an ethereal form might be cool. That and one that had latent shapeshifting abilities.

I think a Eidolon that when traveling would just be an appropriate sized "ball" and would shift out of that form when it is time for combat etc.

For Ideas on the ethereal forms, you should check out the Master of Shadows from tome of magic, although I think that that and shape shifting would be more of evolutions (spell-like abilities even).
The only one I really think is missing is an avian base
Bird Base
Starting statistics: Size Medium; Speed 30 ft, Fly 30 ft (Good); AC +2 natural armor; Saves Fort (poor), Ref (Good), Will (good); Attacks 2 claws (1d4); Ability Scores Str 12, Dex 16, Con 13, Int 7, Wis 10, Cha 11; Free Evolutions Claws, Fly, Limbs (legs)

The only problem is, they get an ability before they should (Fly requires lv. 5)

I think the Fly evolution is too expensive, personally. I mean both the Summoned monster List and Familiar list have Flying creatures on them at first level. Oh and Animal Companion too.

One of my players expressed concerns over lack of utility options for an Eidolon.

I came up with a more streamlined version of movement modes and sizes (like Tiny), for being able to mimic a wider selection of animal-like forms.

Basically, if flying was your only mode of travel, your land speed was severely reduced and you could have it at 1st level, sort of as a swap out thing.

I think I had posted back in the beta forums for the APG when they were kicking around. I can see if I can find that file somewhere on my laptop...

*Edit*
Found it in the playtest forums. Or at least the discussion of it. I think I have some stuff different in the final rules I typed up on my laptop.
