Confession:
Ok, so here's the deal - I have limited net access due to time constraints, so this thread is really a half-thought that I'm hoping you, the reader, will help clarify and shape.
I realise there's probably a tonne of infomation 'out there' but I really havn't got the time right now to do any digging. I will do over the next few days. This thread is designed to make use of these forums and the (awesome) community while I'm fighting small Taiwanesian children.
Thank you in advance.
*shakes fist*
Righty, I recall there being a prestige class in.. the.. Masters of the Wild... book named the 'Verdant Lord'. (Which, if anyone can link the rules for, would really help - assuming it's legal of course.)
I also recall the main picture/art portraying a somewhat limp-wristed tree... thing that failed to inspire.
..but yes, I am looking to tweak the existing Druid class into one that focuses soley on plants/trees/shrubberies etc etc
Nothing too drastic, just a few suggestions for tweaks would be great...
Quick scope of what I'd chuck out/re-spray:
- All non-plant themed wild shaping would go
- Earlier plant wildshaping
- A few plant related options
- Plant animal companion (looking for those rules at mo as well)
..that's about it..
Or, I guess a simple update for the Verdant Lord. However, if I recall it wasn't that interesting.
I do like trees tho.
..and tree spirits! Trees kicking collective Assi - barksin, gnarled root talons! Throttling vines! Tree striding! Posions! Camo! Trees bursting from the ground - growing from seeds to ancient oak in a round -ripping foes to shreds! TREES EAT DEAD PEOPLE!1!!1
*breathes*
etc etc etc
*shakes fist*
..and thank you.

..and found this:
BEHOLDEN THE GIMPY VERDANT LORD CONCEPT ART!
=.=
*shakes fist*
..but hey, full spell casting progression and the ability to cast while in Treant form?
Ouch.

There's a plant companion variant (for 3.5) in Dragon magazine 357. It allowed you to "evolve" your plant by giving it different special abilities as you leveled up.
Ok, probably a daft question: Can you purchase/read Dragon magazines online?
I'm currently based in Taiwan and Dragon magazine is rather rare round these parts..

I don't think it's possible at this time to get any of WotC/TSR's old products online. Try doing a search of the Paizo website and I think you might pick up where you could purchase a hard copy (either mint or used) online at the Paizo store.
If that doesn't work for you, i found a plant companion homebrew feat somebody did here:

If you didn't mind not having a companion, having your Druid take the Plant domain would give you a couple of interesting plant powers as well as a bunch of plant spells per day (dunno how good it would be power wise though).
