Andoran revolutionaries

Lost Omens Campaign Setting General Discussion

Who were they? I know that one revolutionary fighting to be free of Cheliax is listed in the book on the nation, but are there others? What's canon here?

Sorry, roguerogue, I'm not sure what your question is. Can you elaborate?

Ah. I've set my campaign back in the timeline of Golarion a bit. It's just at the period where Andoran is breaking away from Cheliax. Which Andorans played a big role in that?

That particular bit of history has not really been fleshed out a lot. Check out p. 4 of "Andoran, Spirit of Liberty", and p. 60 of the "Campaign Setting". That's about it.

[nitpicker mode on] The word for people from Andoran is Andoren, not Andorans (those are from The Wheel of Time.[nitpicker mode off]

More on topic, I seem to recall one of the leaders of the Galtan revolution had to flee to Andoran once that revolution turned pear-shaped.

This is a really weird decision on Paizo's part. When you play an Andoren, don't you want to be able to know at least the names of the Founding Fathers of your country? One would think that would go into the Companion book.

Liberty's Edge

The Pathfinder Wiki entry on Talmandor mentions the following:

Quote:
Popular history holds it that the celestial saw the great evil of House Thrune rising in Cheliax and dictated the words that Darl Jubannich wrote in his famous tract "On Government".

So, perhaps Darl Jubannich would be a figure comparable to Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, or Thomas Paine in Andoran's history.

You may also want to pick up Andoran, Spirit of Liberty.

I've got that one.; it doesn't have much.

I'm using: Sgt. Rupert Raim (from the NPC book) as their military commander; General Cormoth (Golarion book) as his second in command (which terribly confuses the Chelaxians); Alysande Benedict as a one-legged agitator; Darl Jubbanich as their theorist; with "The Runt" (Jamus Hainerd) and the Steel Fox as heroes on the ground.

I also think there certainly would've been Expies of John Paul Jones and Israel Putman. Those two certainly would be crazy enough to belong in a setting as badass of Golarion.

1 person marked this as a favorite.

Mmm, John Paul Jones homage eh? Interesting idea, a Andoran captain crazy enough to raid take the battle to Cheliax and at least distract them. I wonder how much is made of the naval battles for Andoran's freedom? I may have to break out Spirit of Liberty
